Whether he wants to use the pda actuals or not you stand your ground!when he pulls you asking why you can't absorb/complete just reply "if you do your job and check my pda actuals you'll see why" once again don't let these w*****s bully you OR ANYONE ELSE IN YOUR UNIT!!! Too many individuals in the job now where as we should all be standing together and fighting back against these bulliesBahia Feliz wrote:So yesterday I told the bully lino that I wouldn't be able to do the absorb/lapsing,had a stand up row about it.I said check the pda data for my finishing times,he said he's not going to use the pda data ever again! I booked 15 mins extended when I got back to piss him off more than anything (didn't take the absorption but was a tad late back).
Today, different lino same story,no absorb and I booked 20 mins, bully lino back in on Monday so will see what he says about the extended,he has a habit of crossing it off,I wasn't sure if i'd be late back or not so I hadn't said that I might need to book ext.

No one should have to work over their hours. That is optional.
If you lapse then you lapse because staff are sick or traffic is low
If that means you cannot manage your own duty the you apart fail your own duty. And let the manager know you won't manage your duty.
If you want the overtime do not expect to finish early o other days throughout the week. There will be more work available for you to do.
But ultimately. If you are paid for 39 hours or work. Then you should work 39 hours worth of work. Regardless of its content and what day it is. There are too many people making demands and expecting to be paid for nothing. It's ridiculous
Would you pay your staff for nothing??

Who's making demands and expecting to be paid for nothing?? If there's not enough work to fulfil your working day that's down to RM to find more work!!! This post is about people being forced to work OVER THEIR HOURS FOR NOTHING!!!! You asked "Would you pay your staff for nothing" no I wouldn't (if I was an owner of a business) but I also wouldn't expect my staff to work for nothing!!! Would you??? This reply iis that of a typical manager or a managers Brown nosecatch22 wrote:No one should have to work over their hours. That is optional.

How judgemental of you.
I also state. That you can only lapse if it is manageable and overtime should be optional.
Some staff expect if their duty finishes early then so can They. But other staff are out delivering until late. That's not fair or consistent.

reasonable pace ? what would you say is a decent pace with a lightweight trolley or hct ? there using the pdas for people who are tossing it off , going off route , or sat in the van to waste time , or taking longer for there breaks . but for those that do the job properly have nothing to worry about . anyway nobody should work for nothing when you have the top knobs getting unreal wages for 1 or 2 days a week between there other jobs , you go over claim , if the dim starts moaning just work your hours , simpleJpro747 wrote:I would guess either they don’t know how to use the cut off procedure, or they’re worried they’ll get sacked for wilful delay for leaving mail behind.
Remember, we’re all being tracked on the PDA so as long as you’re working at a safe and reasonable pace, you’ve got nothing to worry about. They can’t force you to go over and they can’t sack you for using the cut off procedure as long as you use it correctly.

Think he's just saying, if you are an hr late one day and claim it, don't expect to go home early the next if its mega light. If it's light, try all neighbors for packets, don't rush round, put yer door to doors together for rest of week when you get back, or even do more that day to take you up to your time and make rest of week easier. It's down to bad office management mostly. The amount of times I see people in early for IPS on docket then finished on their walk 45 mins early. It makes no sense at all. Others are going over every day just to finish their walks. PDA actuals will or could, hopefully equal walks out, if the managers can be arsed. Of course, they like to keep the ones finishing early on side though in case they need to call on them for some ghost overtime to dig them out the poo, so it'll probably never happen, and just be used as a tool to bully and pressure people on big walks.

Btw, we've been told you can't claim less than 15 mins a day so if you think you're gonna be 10 mins late, better make it 15 or 20.

The delivery part of our walks are probably longer than in most other offices since the last redesign of our walks. This was to enable us to keep most of our duties as full time jobs which is not the norm within RM. I get the impression in a lot of other offices maybe over 50% of the duties are part time. We have, out of Postie's personal choice and to keep RM off our backs, three duties which could be seen as being part time. They are four day duties with IPS and prep included though so are not much less than full time.Navalron wrote:Celgar, I've seen a couple of your posts where you say that your office is always going over but that the Dom won't allow you to claim docket. Wtf. Are you working for nothing, or being bullied or both of an i missing something here mate.
As in every office we have, either through personal choice or ability, quicker and slower Postie's so some get back before duty time ends, some on time, and some after duty time ends. We have a couple of duties that are officially longer than the rest of the walks and this was a known fact when the walks were redesigned. A way to make the duties all the same length couldn't be devised. One of those two walks regularly gets a lot of parcels and is longer than the RM system said it was.
Regarding signing for extended delivery or cutting off it's never been easy to do and so you just get worn down and don't bother in the end. With our previous DOM the system was a bit different to now. We hadn't i varying amounts of 'absorption' - single or double equal to 20 or 40 minutes - on some or every day and the absorption had to be delivered first. If anything had to be 'cut off' it couldn't be the absorption and it had to be a different part of our walk each day. We are loyal to our customers more than to RM or anyone else and never wanted double mail in the frames the following days. Therefore we would not cut off and carry on in our own time to get everything delivered.
We have a different DOM now and for the most part the office runs well and everyone is largely happy in a local sense with most grumbling and disputes aimed at higher management who are beyond our control. It still isn't easy to book extended or cut off except if something major happens then the DOM gets everyone to book some. The booking sheets always used to be visible & available until a while back when a couple of posties started booking extended they hadn't done. Since then the sheets are kept safe somewhere in the office.
There is sort of an unofficial flexibility of time thing going on nowadays that the union seems to be in agreement with. There is no written calculation of time used or anything though so it's all sort of in the air. Personally I would like to see an agreement between the RM & the CWU that is written down in stone, known about by everyone, and applied consistently everywhere across the whole of RM. I realise firms across the country are up to this kind of activity but it isn't a good way to treat a workforce. I heard the other day that when supermarkets lose staff through people leaving etc they don't replace them and expect the remaining staff to just cover the slack. I'm not totally against some flexibility on our end but if it largely ends up in RMs favour, and I think it does, then RM should use AHDC/PDA data to pay employees for the additional time worked that hasn't been paid for.
So the short answer to your query would be I don't really consider I am bullied as our DOM isn't like that. You could maybe call it pressure I suppose. It just isn't easy or 'user friendly' to be able to book extended..

Not booking extended or cutting off is giving your dom the freedom to not pay extended!!!! He/she clearly knows you all will complete despite going over!!! Phase was originally agreed to be done at the BACK END of delivery and I certainly haven't seen or heard of any other agreement about it being done before! Unfortunately being loyal to your customers is the same as being loyal to RM because you are working for free!!! Can I ask are you gonna be happy during Xmas pressure to stay out to complete without being paid extended?? Possibly being 2 hours over your finish time and doing it for free??? All your doing is lining your doms pocket with a nice bonus as the office is completing every day and at no extra cost!! Sounds like your office needs to make a statement once and for all!! Pay extended (to those who are happy to do it) or cut off and go home at your finish time leaving your dom to deal with it seeing as that's why their are paid over 40k a year plus bonuses!!Celgar wrote:The delivery part of our walks are probably longer than in most other offices since the last redesign of our walks. If you finish your duty early and there is nothing else to do then do you expect those who've finished to sit in the office twiddling their thumbs until their finish time?? Unfortunately people walk at different paces so if joe Briggs walks faster than the next person it's not his fault if he finishes his duty quicker, if the walks are redesigned and RM and the walk planners design walks to be equal (or as close to equal as possible) then there's your fairness but as I've stated people walk at different paces so there will always be people finishing earlier/later than otherscatch22 wrote:How judgemental of you.
