They get ‘Pro rata’. Most likely on £24krambo1 wrote:Btw ,linos don't get paid 30k and yes, we do need them, but not so many and not full time. As one said, some posties try to toss it off and need someone to remind them what they should be doing.

Do we really need line managers?
The basic pay for a newbie line manager is around £27k but there is a potential 10% bonus available, most line managers are on a higher rate than that though because they take on the Assistant DOM role or they've moved back down from DOM or even higher but kept their higher pay rate. I wouldn't imagine there are many in the business grossing less than £30k pro rata.rambo1 wrote:Btw ,linos don't get paid 30k and yes, we do need them, but not so many and not full time. You don't need a line manager to supervise staff, that would be a supervisor you're thinking of. Most businesses would pay a supervisor about a £1-£2 an hour more than frontline staff but the point is they would expect supervisors to do the same or similar job as the staff they were supervising. If the staffing has been done correctly, everybody does their job and the mail arrives on time what is the line managers role?
This is the only business I've come across where it's acceptable for a line manager to stand and watch a production line in case something bad happens.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

This is something that's bugged me for years. Once all posties leave the building the managers role is pretty much complete. I have noticed over the past year that they have reduced the head count on managers and deligated more work on to the managers that have either left the business or have been told to step down.
Over the next couple of years you will probably see more p/t manager roles. Just like us posties the ratio of staff will be 50/50 for management.

This may be a bit off topic, but our Dom was advised to go for the job by the Dsm, who then done the interview!
