Just a quick question does anyone know what happens if you are on booked leave when a strike happens.
The reason I ask is it seems unfair if a strike is called and you go out, but because you have holiday due you get paid but your mucker's don't.
But then again if you don't get paid can you claim the holiday later on or is it lost entirely. I have asked 3 people at my DO including rep, but got 3 different answers.

I was under the impression that if it's booked you get the pay as it's holiday.
Same as if the strike day/s are on your day/s off.
Put it this way you are not on strike if you're on holiday or it's your official day off,i'm sure the Burslem guys had this.
And they got the pay back.

Hang on a sec im confused,lets say we was on strike from tuesday 29 may,anyone whos on leave next week will get paid correct,and rightly so,but i dont think we will be paid for your rest day/days as you are on strike,my rest days are wed/thurs next week but if we was to strike from tues onwards no pay untill strike is over,is that right i think so.

But youre on strike postman ,that strike goes on untill the union call for a return to work ,it makes no difference if its your rest day,you cant be on rest day then resume to strike sureley ,i dont remember this happening before,that means i will get 2 days pay a week on strike ,i cant see it i hope its true but i dont think it is ,i will find out for sure next week.

Do you get paid for a set number of hours per week or on a week by week basis. I thought as Thursday is my day off I don't get paid for it . Now I'm confused anyone help.

I think you'll find the argument is irrelevant anyway as the CWU have stated there will be no call for an all out strike, it will be a series of one day walkouts averaging one a week, allthough they may well choose the friday of one week then the monday of the next just to cause maximum disruption. So your pay will only be affected if you are due to work on the day of the walkout, if you aren't at work due to sick/annual leave/any other pre-scheduled reason your pay isn't affected.
The CWU have also offered a 6 month suspension of the action as long as Royal Mail return to the negotiations without pushing through the changes, so don't assume we'll be out at all just yet.

strike pay
I asked my line manager the score on strike pay this morning. He reckons that if your rest day falls on a strike day,
you'll still be paid for 5 days work. If you work your rest day you would lose a days pay, but if your rest day work falls on anyother day apart from the strike day, you would still get payed the s/a rate. If your on leave, your on leave and the pay wouldn't alter. I know it's confusing but it was the best response i could get
