It's a different system. I was told how it works but I have forgotten already. I think a different type of card - a yellow one was mentioned - is put through the door to say a second attempt to deliver the item will happen the following day. Remember RM think differently to us and consider the firm posting the item to be the customer. Whereas us Postie's consider the customer to be the person we deliver the item to.Sir Henry wrote:Is this LAT stuff not tracked? If ithere's tracked amongst it there'll be a lot of complaints that customers have had emails that a delivery was attempted but no red card was left.Celgar wrote:They won't leave P739s though so if an item cannot be delivered by them it will given to the standard walks in DOs to deliver the following day.

They'll be moving staff away from when the LAT stuff comes in to support night shifts and deal with any night shift failures (which are near enough going to become daily and not small with Network 18)dingo wrote:All Mail centres are tasked with ensuring they realign staff to where the workload is under what triggers their working week. This is to ensure that the LAT product is resourced to. The model which Network 12 was worked on was when the LAT arrives in a Mail Centre than 90 minutes is given to the Mail Centre to turn that around and than the stem time needed for transportation to the Delivery Office. Some Mail Centre will not need 90 minutes as their LAT will arrive on a sprinter.

It will depend on the demand i guess.wacko74 wrote:So are we looking at potentially new shifts being created for delivering pkts in the afternoon/evening?
RM will charge a premium for the service. will the retailer be able to pass the extra cost on to the buyer?

Not going to happen??!SpacePhoenix wrote:Not going to happen. It already has. My DO delivered over 50 LAT parcels yesterday. As far as I know it was a success on Day 1.

Of course it'll work on a very quiet week, lets wait until there's a busy week, then we'll get a better idea of whether it's a successWild Rover wrote:As far as I know it was a success on Day 1.

afaik it'll all be Tracked so any emails/texts about delivery attempts should go through as normal unless RM aren't going to have you bother scanning any where there's no one in.Sir Henry wrote:Is this LAT stuff not tracked? No idea , it's not a service open to the public just selected retailers.Wild Rover wrote:How much does it cost if you order via LAT ? Where online is the click through ?

I was told it's sort of for stupid people who have left it til the day before an event to order a new dress. So they order up say six dresses to arrive the same day. Then they choose one to wear and return the other five. People have a habit of leaving things til the last minute so this service facilitates that requirement.A2B wrote:No idea , it's not a service open to the public just selected retailers.Wild Rover wrote:How much does it cost if you order via LAT ? Unless retailers charge their customers a large amount for a LAT delivery there's little point, it may as well go Special Delivery

Is it being done by the normal DO staff on docket? How much lapsing (if any) is being used to free up the staff to do it?Wild Rover wrote:Not going to happen??!SpacePhoenix wrote:Not going to happen. At the moment it is only one customer Bloom and Wild. This is to ensure that any problems are sorted before other customers come on line from October.
Some huge household names are keen to get on board. Remember we now live in a society where people order off the internet and want the item the very next day. The biggest ordering time is 21:00 and the LAT product allows next day delivery.
Since the data protection act came in traffic year on year has fallen by 11%. That means revenue has reduced as well.
This LAT product has the potential to grow massively and all a Mail Centre has to do is to have to sort these items into the depots. Remember they get a manifest of the items from the RDC. Remember the realignment of processing hours has the LAT top of the priority list to ensure staff are available to ensure it is sorted and than dispatched to the depots who are delivering them.

Dream on. The realignment needs to have MORE staff on nights to support the bulk of the mail coming in after 01:30 otherwise massive fails are going to become the norm for night shifts once the mail volumes pick up again in the autumn. There's only a certain amount of staff to go around. Ironically if they hadn't introduced Network 18, then there wouldn't have been any need for early shift staff to have to start before 06:00 therefore they would have had more staff available to process the LAT stuff in the 1/2 hour window that they have from when it arrives (assuming it arrives on time) and when it's due to go out to the hubs.dingo wrote:Remember the realignment of processing hours has the LAT top of the priority list to ensure staff are available to ensure it is sorted and than dispatched to the depots who are delivering them.

The LAT delivery operation has nothing to do with lapsing and cannot nor will be used to enable more lapsing to take place. They are additional SA duties like collections that posties have put their names down to do.SpacePhoenix wrote:Is it being done by the normal DO staff on docket?
