I have heard that one as well. If they bring that in I expect a lot of Postie's would drop the collection SAs like a rock.Deadly wrote:At our office the rumour is that collection drivers will be delivering these parcels due to them having less work now (boxes to empty).

Where do you propose MCs get the staff from when all shifts are short (sometimes well short) of staff? Maybe we could have compulsory overtime for all DO staff in their local MC?Postie45 wrote:why do you assume they wont make resource changes to accommodate new ideas ?SpacePhoenix wrote:Only way it'll have a chance in hell of working is if RM revert all the changes that were made for Network 18. Given staffing levels in general (across MCs and DOs) i'd be surprised if many DOs hubs have got sufficient staff to deliver it, that is if their local MC even has the drivers available to do the MC to DO hub runs when we're very short on drivers as it is (can't be that far off agency drivers outnumbering RM drivers at times)Wild Rover wrote:It's a new product so I suspect they'll want it to work?

You can't run a company by relying on people doing overtime, if the works there give people a jobaiden01 wrote: Maybe give the mc staff ot instead of bringing agency workers in.

I have no idea. Worst case scenario it will be like the competitors asking us where addresses are all the time. Except that we won't be there to ask at that time of day. I'm hoping lots of mistakes are not made but I get the impression there may not be that much LAT business to deal with at least initially so maybe it will be alright.Wild Rover wrote:Yes, today it was supposed to go live. Part time drivers are being brought in to do the work. Tenders have already went out to agencys. It's like the old associate grade duties, ie part time but expected to work to finish. So much for no outsourcing.

I don't believe there's much time between when the artic arrives with the stuff and when the vans go off to the DO hubs so it won't take much for the stuff to fail. It'll need to arrive already sorted down to DO level as not every MC will have the room to do an inward setup just for that as from around 06:30ish smaller MCs will have their outward setups in place

It is starting live today. Network 12 was designed around this new LAT product. 20% or the work would get into the Mail Centre anytime from 09:30 to mid-day and would be than passed onto the depots who perform the LAT product which will deliver the product from 15:00 - 19:00.
Initially we are only talking about one flower customer. However there are several customers who are looking into this and may come in when it is officially launched in October.
Every depot gets a manifest of where the parcels are to be delivered as soon as the RDC scans the product.
This is a product which is going to be the future growth of Royal Mail.
All Mail centres are tasked with ensuring they realign staff to where the workload is under what triggers their working week. This is to ensure that the LAT product is resourced to. The model which Network 12 was worked on was when the LAT arrives in a Mail Centre than 90 minutes is given to the Mail Centre to turn that around and than the stem time needed for transportation to the Delivery Office. Some Mail Centre will not need 90 minutes as their LAT will arrive on a sprinter.
It is happening today and we will understand how successfully it has been tonight.

Is this LAT stuff not tracked? If ithere's tracked amongst it there'll be a lot of complaints that customers have had emails that a delivery was attempted but no red card was left.Celgar wrote:They won't leave P739s though so if an item cannot be delivered by them it will given to the standard walks in DOs to deliver the following day.
