If someone is taking 7mins longer per hour on delivery then over 4.30 hours their 31 minutes behind. What you gonna do issue a metronome and a stopwatch?

The Olympic synchronised swimming team spend 4 years training and they still can't get it right yet an office of 80 delivery staff instinctively know they are walking at the speed set in Geo route.

In RMs world the Olympics 800 metre final would see everybody cross the finishing line at the same time. Each athlete would be issued with a Geo route map of the running track and told it will take this amount of time exactly.Mentally absorb the number in your head and count out each second to Back in Black by ACDC piece of piss

Here lies the problem. Everybody is different, every office is different when it comes to completing a walk, it's all about doing the job properly. Doing everything correctly will show up on the pda actuals then it's up to management to balance the workload...this will be time consuming but will probably pay off in the end.

If you have an office full of runners then hours will be taken out the office and as a result you will probably have more p/t's.

If the office as a whole does it by the book then hours won't be lost but gained resulting in no full time jobs being lost and it could probably be gained.

But that's not right is it? 4 people could do the same duty by the book and still finish at different times and wildly different times at that, just because some people will work/walk quicker and get out the office earlier because they are faster at prepping. So if all duties are equalised and everyone's doing the job by the book what happens next? Stop paying overtime if some people go over and others can complete? Sounds a bit like the walk ownership they wanted, theres your workload go and do it at your own pace but you aren't getting overtime

Not always as easy as that. If, like me, you're part time and not actually signed into the duty, if you cut off too much/regularly they'll take you off it. If the duty is a nine day fortnight and you go back to me rotating days off again (in reality, oh, it's Tuesday again) then it's devastating. Well, depending on perspective, but you know what I mean.

It happened to me. Had to cut off for two months, relation ill. Management understanding for a while and then it was, oh, this is a training duty (all bollox I've discovered since) and we need you to be a reserve.

Anyway, fast forward two months, relation miraculously recovered, considering my theological values and all that, and I'm back on that duty, nine day fortnights reinstated, thank you very much.

Part of that is because it's a long duty, the trainee had to cut off every day due to childcare issues and they shot themselves in the foot anyway. I'm flexible now, after said relation being sick 'issues', so we're all happy....

Point is.... sometimes we know if we cut off (or finish on time as I'd rather label it), they'll punish us some other way.

I finish late on busy days but i doubt i work 38 hours over the week of course if the early starters and no breakers worked as i do then i would be leaving the office later and working to my time most days, if anyone thinks an average four hours walking is easy let them do it.

Agree with you entirely . Cutting off is not an easy option given total lack of union backup and miss management cowboys being very keen to falsify official records to take you down the conduct code. It is bandit country now ,the law of the jungle. Get legal cover that gives you access to a lawyer versed in employment law.
Funny how this whole thread concentrates on personal differences and not a word how workload might be unequal .
Anybody work in an office where the DOM's pet gets an easy ride ?

at my office , its going tits up !! no overtime and pda checking is causing havoc . Im on 25hrs over 5 days.... i get in to work for 10am . frame not fully prepped still having to do re di's , turn letters for parcels , tie up and load etc to then do a delivery and finsh at 2.30pm because of no relief break. how can they expect that to work ? i spend from 10 till 10.40 prepping and loading , travel to duty and back 15-20 mins ( all together ) which leaves 3.5 hours to get the 2 frames delivered ( shared van ) one frame is 6 wings and the other is 7 ... its definitely not an easy delivery with a new dev dropped on it aswell which isnt even not on frame !! theres no other option but to cut off , things have to change soon !! worst thing is they say theyre cutting hours and no ghosting , but theyre paying people overtime to finsh jobs whilst turning a blind eye to ghosting. its pretty much pointless and probably costing them more hours at the end of it !!

Oh I have said it so many times,I am so glad that I am out of all this. It just gets worse. I can see it now the DOMs will use this as a tool to use for more B&H!!!

B&H is back in big style, and if anyone thinks PDA actuals will be used to optimize workload , well RM have a very poor track record where fairness and equal treatment are concerned.

PDAs wont equal "workload" theyll equal "time spent on delivery"
Runners youre on notice, the writing is on the wall, dont complain when that "slow bloke who always cuts off" mail is given to you in future because you consistently finish an hour early. Best do the job properly from now on as the more you cut corners now, the more actual workload is coming your way. Complain all you want but its FAR easier for RM to manage hours this way than to conduct someone for being slow, unless its egregious.

Like I said it just gets worse! I bet the B&H never really went away,it was just toned down until the vote went through, then the B&H floodgates opened in big style.Really feel for you posties,a great job made impossible by management.
