At the moment its 2 planned reductions 1 this year and 1 next.
After that the only thing agreed is that in principle we will be going down to 35, but there is no hard and firm plan as to when and how only aims and hopes.

Can you quote me on that? As I understood it from the agreement, the only definite plan was the first one, to 38 hrs. Even that was subject to the trials starting. The rest were proposed, and reliant on efficiency, savings etcTrueBlueTerrier wrote:At the moment its 2 planned reductions 1 this year and 1 next.
If we can't find an hour somewhere (ie find a way to do the same work in a more efficient manner) we won't get to 37 hrs.
Or am I wrong?

This is directly from the agreement itself:
• A reduction in the working week of one hour from October 2018, subject to:-
A) Delivery of trials and an implementation plan informed by the outcomes of those trials for both
Delivery methods and Resource scheduler (including hours capture) without pre-conceived
outcomes.
B) Deployment of the last letter time of 15:30 (16:30 rural), as part of the implementation of a solution
for the LAT products as detailed in section 15.
So thats the first hour, 38 hrs.. in october.. definitely.
but to get to 37 hrs. .
A further reduction of 1 hour in the working week to be introduced from the 1st October 2019, the funding
formula for the hour will include a joint evaluation of inflation as of the 1st April 2019, any implementation of
changes from the trials, in sections 14 and 15 of this agreement, on-going efficiency, and other operational
and technological changes).
So as I see it, there is only one reduction in hours guaranteed so far. 38hrs.
37hrs is subject to things that might never happen same as 36 hrs and 35hrs.

And this, clear as day, talking of further reductions (after the first hour to 38hrs) uses the word 'potentially.
19.2 Evaluations to potentially enable further hours for the SWW
To support evaluation of potential enablers for the flight path for reductions in the working week beyond the
first hour, Royal Mail and the CWU will jointly develop, plan, trial and evaluate new and inventive duty patterns.
In considering options, both parties will review the outputs of the trial activity on Resource Scheduler to ascertain
where improved data can better inform the resourcing process and enhance the quality of our resourcing meetings.
As you can see, I'm far from convinced that we will ever get a working week of 37 hrs or less, without major major
upheaval, heartbreak, blood sweat and tears.

We were informed from higher up management that the SWW will happen. But if taking that time out means there is not enough duty time left to complete then more hours would be added to the office budget to compensate.NewPostieUK wrote:Can you quote me on that?
