Not entitled to have a saturday off?!!

The 1 in 4 Saturday aspiration is no longer valid, neither are the innovative duty patterns like the 4 day week and 9 day fortnight. they all cost jobs and it's difficult to square that. They'll all be phased out eventually and reserves will be first to feel it because they're an easy target.

Nobody at HQ has the bottle to tell the members though.

What is peeing me off is that there are two other reserves less senior to me,one has been covering a duty since before xmas and the other one has been covering a duty for a month,both due to sickness of the duty holders. The one that has been covering since before xmas has had 5 saturdays off to my 0 because im not covering a duty and im more senior!!!

Its the same in our office, Iv'e counted at least seven people (excluding new starters) who have been left on vacant duties who have less seniority than other reserves. Like you say these get the long weekends whilst other senior reserves miss out

I do get the odd Saturday, I am not too bothered which day off I get during the week. But I would like the odd long weekend Sat-Mon like my colleagues are entitled to. The answer is "impossible !" Would be nice to be able to go away for a long weekend once in a while.

aye fish that's right, the reserves got hit when they blitzed ours a fortnight ago.. some full time reserves don't get a Saturday at all. some part timers scored though, going from 30 hrs to 31.5 hrs and onto a four day week. and 25 hr lads and lasses get a Friday and Saturday and Monday and Tuesday once a month. but the full time reserves got all the s**t. even seniority was overlooked. full time duty holders went back to a 5 day week. as you say,,, the whole lot is going to be phased out.

we were ALL f****d over. we all lost the 9 day fortnights 3 over 4s etc. the union told us if we didn't comply, there would be 9 job losses from our office alone. it was never a case of 'letting it go''!
