Contracted Hours - not enough work

Yes it encourages rushing, coming in early, cutting corners ect but at least the work gets covered. We virtually never fail any walks because it's swings and roundabouts, we go home early when it's quiet and stay later when it's busy. The second they take the early finishes away fine, but there's no chance anybody is going over their time either.

Same which 'ghosting', absolutely nobody is gonna do overtime unless there's some incentive to do so. People are not gonna take another 3rd out if it means staying out an additional 2 hours, people are just gonna tell them to stick it.
Absolutely spot on , if I go home early here and there I don't mind the odd late day but once those " earlies" have gone I won't be going over

You can’t be paid overtime until you’ve worked your contracted hours. You don’t have a contracted start/finish time. You’ve a contracted number of hours per week. You should not be getting paid overtime and not working your contracted hours. If there is no work stay until the finish time of 2pm if you want your overtime for morning. If you go home early you can’t be paid it.

Yes you can. If you ask for work and there is none (or management claim there is none) and you are sent home then that's a management decision. Unless they ask, and you agree, 'clawback' or you agreeing to work more hours on a later day isn't on.

The company could turn round tomorrow and say at 7am, 'everyone go home and have a day off paid.' They could not then ask on Friday and Saturday that people work 12 hours to make that time up. Or rather, they could ask, but you culd ask for overtime or tell them you'd rather not.

In past years occasionally we have been granted a 'non working day' near Christmas. That has no bearing on overtime and is exactly the same thing in principle.

They can’t “bank” hours. If that’s the case I would just make sure I do my full 39hrs in the week and then have every Saturday off.
Lets see how long this lasts when there’s 4 walks to cover on overtime and ghosting isn’t allowed. Can’t wait, I’ll give it a day max!
