From what I've heard, you have to bear in mind there isn't just one budget. Lapsing a walk results in savings for the office budget. The cost of sending 15 vans across town every day is the problem of whoever oversees the fuel budget for the area. Same with DOMs sending people to other offices even at the cost of short staffing their own. Or so I've been told.Xr4 wrote:I have no idea why they think they are saving money.

My office has sent staff to other offices loads of times, resulting in double lapsing. Saying that we have had a new Dim and I haven't noticed staff being sent when we're short.

Walked into work yesterday to find the seven walks usually lasped had been uplasped now only two were lasped.
There new idea is now is to lasp indoor work whatever that means asked a rep about it and he couldn’t really explain what it was about either.
Seem to make it up as they go along.

It isn't too complicated.Nickvilla20 wrote:Walked into work yesterday to find the seven walks usually lasped had been uplasped now only two were lasped.

You have about 7 hours work each day. If you do 2.5 hours indoors it gives you 4.5 hours outdoors.
This would give you the time to complete your duty and do lots of lapsing.
If they increase your indoor time by not paying staff to come in early (either f/t or p/t) then you will spend more time indoors and consequently have less time outdoors.
So less lapsed duties. (3 hours inside means only 4 outside)
As long as you have enough bums to cover the seats it is fine - unless you are one of those who is getting your overtime cut.
But then people shouldn't ever have been paid overtime to facilitate lapsing plans.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Awww boo hoo. The bad man made me do more work than I've been used too. Dry your eyes and do the job properly. FORGET that you were scoring hours every week. It's over. Work your hours, take your alloted meal relief, fail the lapsing if you are unable to manage it,in your alloted timespan, fail even more if you want to attempt to deliver to more neighbours. Accept that you will be told that you are a lazy, underperforming troublemaker and you Will be fine. Grow a pair and you will win the war.

We got offered different options for lapsing this year and guess what, they've gone ahead with a more extreme plan. Suffice to say, people will soon be wondering if posties still exist as they won't be getting much mail this summer.

We started summer lapsing a few weeks ago. Most days they've scrapped the lapsing at the last minute because they've realised that most of us won't be doing it. I'm all for doing some overtime as I've said on these forums many times, but I'm not taking bits of another duty when my own duty is close to 6 hours as it is. Even on a quiet Tuesday (of which we actually haven't had many recently), I'm still coming back to the office after the duty time by the time I take my break.

Someone on here mentioned a reason for the SWW being implemented was to get rid of absorption. I'm not sure that is the case but I would say if we get the two lots of SWW as agreed there won't physically be time within duty time to do absorption. Whether RM realise this and are willing to accept it is another matter.

By 'lots' I meant hours. On the last agreement we had the first hour which took us from 40 to 39 hours. The current agreement will take us from 39 to 38 hours then from 38 to 37 hours if conditions are met and RM let it through.NewPostieUK wrote:Which two lots would that be?Celgar wrote: if we get the two lots of SWW as agreed

I was just wondering where you got the 'two' from. 39 - 38 is one lot, which is happening in october. Other lots, may or may not happen (in my opinion will never happen)Celgar wrote:By 'lots' I meant hours. On the last agreement we had the first hour which took us from 40 to 39 hours. but there's 38-37 then 37 - 36 then 36 - 35 so that's three lots.

Two as in two separate hours of SWW from the current pay agreement which was agreed between the RM & the CWU. It's a definite part of the agreement which, in my opinion, posties unwisely voted yes to. It's not like the theoretical promise from the previous agreement that all posties would get more Saturdays off work.NewPostieUK wrote:I was just wondering where you got the 'two' from. 39 - 38 is one lot, which is happening in october. Surely it's either one or four? One (the first one 39 - 38) which is happening in october, the other three 38-37 37-36 and 36-36 depending on efficiency / savings etc.Celgar wrote: Two as in two separate hours of SWW from the current pay agreement which was agreed between the RM & the CWU.
