Everyone I know on the left realises there should be one party looking after the interests of the only class who matter, the only class who create all the wealth, the only class who have no need to exploit anyone, namely the working class. But, there is far too much division on the left. Individual members of existing parties and organisations are happy enough to work together, but once the leaders of those parties come along, the disunity appears. In my view, too many on the left and in anarchist circles think every word of what some German or Russian said 100-150 years ago is relevent today, but it often isn't. Capitalist bosses and their fascist and management stooges are the enemy. People selling left wing papers on a Saturday afternoon in town, or students passing motions supporting striking workers aren't.

I'm not sure that the solution lies in party politics (though I'm all in favour of there being something to replace what used to be the Labour party).

It seems to me that there must be something wrong (some kind of psychological problem?) with people who continually feel the need to make large sums of money at the expense of someone else's wellbeing. Or who allow it to happen when they could prevent it.

When I buy food for the week, or plan an outing for my family, I'm aware that we have these things because I earned them, and I'm proud. I haven't taken advantage of anyone else to make my living, not ever. I don't believe that money gained by doing so would make me happy.

I can understand that running a large business successfully is an stressful but enjoyable occupation and that those who do so will expect, and should have, rewards. But how much money can one person and his/her family need? There's no moral justification for exploiting other people. So why does it happen?

Given Gordon Brown's family background, he must have been taught some basic morality when he was a child. Where's it gone? If we can find the answer to that, perhaps we can learn to reverse the process.

Given that when he officially took over, there was lots of publicity about his left wing politics at Uni, and how he seemed destined for higher things than just the Rector of Edinburgh Uni, etc, etc.....so I can only presume that he changed since getting his post at Glasgow Tech in 1976 ( or more likely since he was first elected in 1983 )

next election i will vote scottish socialists after voting labour for 30 years and the reason i will tell them is that man standing up in parliament telling us to get back to work, he and the rest of new labour are no different to the tories
