to true :thumbup , but when job and knock is taken away with clocking out will it be worth it ?
You wouldn't think so but some say it's so they can prep at a relaxed pace! If all this comes off as predicted on here royal mail will be the first profit hungry company to encourage its staff to work slower, stop working for free and in the process cost more money. We will all be signing new contracts on minimum wage if it happens

Regarding posties coming in early I think most that come in early either do it with a view to finishing earlier or because they feel the job doesn't fit into the duty time and they can't or don't want to finish later.
The views I express here are mine alone and do not represent the views of Royal Mail Group.

I disagree . Most that come in early are pussy whipped arseholes ,who are so s**t scared of management conflict ,and appearing to be substandard performance wise, they would do anything for a quiet life.

Stopping the early starters and runners in every DO is never going to happen. Reps in this area have been trying but the doms only want to stop people going home before the end of their contracted hours and they want the reps to agree to this but when the reps pressed them again to agree to stop early starters and enforce meal breaks it all went quiet on the doms front. reps now think this is being driven by senior management all across the area. They want to only implement parts of the agreement that suits them and stopping the early starters and enforcing meal breaks would kill a lot of the offices off around here because they are short staffed and duties are way too big and show how badly the offices have been run for the last few years.

Management have been trained to ignore the early starters, people not taking breaks etc etc etc
As long as the round gets done, and the lapsing they don’t care.

I've always thought that there is a lot of common sense in bringing up the business to work 7 till 7pm, especially when a lot of customers work during the day and would rather have their parcels delivered on a night. Also, good to know that most offices start times remain unchanged.

I don't doubt that PDA technology opens up a wealth of opportunities which are focused on the customer. That is a good thing. But giving estimated times on delivery won't always be as efficient when Royal Mail have a tendency to cut costs and lapse it instead. Some guys take their lapsing before they do their own duty, some during their round and some after their 5.5 hour delivery span. Then again the 'in-flight' information does have rather a large window so why not just extend it to say something like 'delivery will be somewhere between 9 and 4' and everything would be covered!
according to this guru lapsing if you have time , and some guys do 2-3 extra loops on o/t and still get finished before there finish time , 5.5 delivery spans more like 6.5 - 7 , but the pdas will pick all this up :thumbup , happy days .
And those people who do the extra loops on overtime now will just slow down. What can they say to them? Why are you working slower than you used to? Why aren't you working twice as fast as other people to get twice as much work done as other people? If they can use PDA actuals to make them speed up they will use it on the ones who are always cutting off or claiming
If you have been finishing at 13.30 every Thursday and going home then all of a sudden you finish at 14.15 because they will give you extra work you can be sure they will check your data. This job is tough on your body why run around do the job well take breaks start on time then we only get extra work that we have time to do and for the vast majority of us thats not a lot after October it should be next to nothing.

And all they would say is I'm getting older and slowing down, I'm working at the same speed as others so if you expect me to rush round you'd better say it to the ones who cut off and claim everyday
