how is it a sell out deal ?far from a good post i would say. has the same tone as the sh***s that voted yes to the sell out deal.
hayes and ward to go. along with the dirty 9.
it is the best deal the negotiators believe they can get
doesnt mean that it is good
i have my own views about the proposed deal
but i believe that their is a feeding frenzy about the terms sell out
and sold down the river
i think these terms are emotive and put a very negative cast on the proposal
i think that the deal is not good enough balancing what we have to give up against what we gain
the balance should be what the business will save through the members making the changes to the
way we work and the financial renumeration
i think we could work with a lot of the deal but the return for us compared to what the business will make
from the deal is not enough for us and too much for them

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Sold Out
As far as I am concerned we were sold out by our leadership who no doubt had a little understanding with Bottler Brown or one of his minnions and it probably went like this: 'If you keep striking you will destroy RM and there will be 140,000 job losses. This way there will only be 40,000 job losses and a secure future for the remainder'.
And heaven forbid there might even have been a fear that they wouldn't get a safe seat in the Commons or the Lords or chairmanship of a lucrative quango - but I'm sure these thoughts wouldn't have crossed the minds of our intrepid leadership as we all now know how hard they are prepared to fight for us.
As to the PEC - in a way I actually feel sorry for some of them who voted to accept the deal - they were handled a pile of sh*te which should never have been accepted and left to try and make the best of it. We elected them so it's up to us to vote them out asap and rectify our mistake. Some of them probably weren't thinking of how they could personally benefit from helping out the Labour Party but everyone who voted YES showed they just don't have what it takes to stand up to bullying. They are all broken reeds as far as I am concerned because they bent too far and can no longer be trusted.
And as for the TUC auspices - how dare they tell us that the deal could not be changed in any way. Is that why the venue and control was moved from ACAS? So that even further pressure could be mounted on our hapless and weak leadership from the Labour Party through the TUC.
The first sign was the injunction proceedings - that's when the towel was thrown in. Our leaders should have said well fine we'll make sure we get it right for next week and in the meantime there will be no further talks until after the next successful round of the rolling campaign. I'm not a gambling man but RM management would have run away from the Law Courts on that one.
I could go on and on but there is no need - anyone with half a brain and who isn't sucking up the Labour Party's you know what, knows exactly what went down this time round.
Now we have to look to the future - we have to campaign for a NO vote and if we lose that then we have to fight for the best deals we can get at local level. And most of all we have to prepare for the next battle in this war and to do that we have to get rid of our weak union leadership and replace it with people prepared to fight for us. We also have to use the threat to withdraw the Political Levy as a bargaining chip and the sooner we put payments in cold storage the better. Cutting off money is the only thing that will get Brown's attention.

mailjock v gunner
Have to say that I agree totally with you mailjock, the union at the top are not the people having to break their backs with all the extra workload for pretty well no remuneration, we are and I am certainly not happy about it.
We checked the figures in our office last year to see if summer lapsing was really as needed as RM would like us to think, and the count came out that we had 200 less items to deliver between the 2 counts. Now I am not a mathematician but there are 17 of us in the office, how can RM now turn around to us and say you are doing so much less that we can take out a couple of duties and divvy them up in summer. The figures prove that we would be doing much more work and not just bringing it back up to the winter level. RM go on about it being quieter but all I can see is the walk postman getting more and more shite dumped on his back and having to carry it all day.
Gunner, time you woke up and smelled the coffee, I cant understand why u continually try to defend an executive that has blatantly backed away from this fight and accepted a deal that only works to strengthen RM playing field.
If the union cant get everyone pulling together at the moment, dont you see that it will be a total shambles to police once RM get everyone tied into totally different deals for each local area. There will be in fighting among ourselves and that is what RM want.
Back out and stay out till we win this fight. My last word.

executive failure
Just a thought but did u notice how we have executive failure and RM have executive action, think we should take a leaf from their book and start hitting hard
Just back from Branch Meeting, where it was a unanimous vote to reject the current offer, and it was also discussed that it is now time for change at the top. To even put this offer to us is proof of how far apart the membership and the executive are. We need people at the top that are as strong as the ones at the bottom.
VOTE NO NO NO NO NO NO get my point!!

I would imagine there is going to be a recommendation to accept - The RM observer will be in the spirit of the "new understanding and respect between reps, management and workforce" - so that you don't feel as violated when you are being srewed over.marky wrote:gspot01, meeting over here on tuesday hope it goes the same way but rm have been invited as well dont know why!!! is there going to be a deal with the devil himself.
will keep all posted.
