Status 'Not Shortlisted' meaning?

Post by gnuru »

Hi folks.

I just completed an online job application, then checked my profile to see if it had definitely gone through, but it already says - Status: Test - Not Shortlisted. Could this mean I've failed the test, or is it just a default status prior to being processed properly?

Been waiting a few months for this vacancy because it would be at my local SO. If I've already failed, I might have to consider some other vacancies not so local to me, but really reluctant to. Can't beat being able to walk to work every day!

... and now the status has changed to 'Unsuccessful'. Darn!

Also just noticed the vacancy isn't listed anymore, and neither are 2 others which would have been the next 2 nearest SOs to me. They've all only been up since Friday so surprised they've already been withdrawn. On past experience I was expecting them to be up for about a week.

I applied for the vacancy yesterday but did the online test today (within 24 hours of applying as required). Is it possible I failed to get a look-in because the vacancy was withdrawn between me applying yesterday and doing the test today?

Seems you've failed so you have to wait 6 months before applying again.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Thanks POSTMAN for responding but are you sure? I thought that was true only if you fail an interview, and I haven't had any yet. Either way ...

UPDATE - My status has changed to 'Test Finished'! What could this mean and should I chase it up? Only a couple of days now till listed interview date ...

To recap - within a few minutes after applying online my status changed from 'Test - Not Shortlisted' to 'Unsuccessful', and then the day after that it changed to 'Test Finished' (which I only just noticed btw)

Any thoughts anyone? Is there still hope?

Or having a laugh more like ..

Status has now changed from 'Test Finished' to 'Testing Complete'. And weirdly the status date is as it was (i.e. a few days ago), but the format has changed from month/day/year to day/month/year .. This follows a query I sent them yesterday, but not heard back yet.

For what it’s worth, I got a reply which said the role was filled by internal transfer or someone on the waiting list. It added that they’d like to keep my details ‘for a short time’ in case of future interviews, though that would depend on how my original test results compared to others ..
