That will change. Believe me. Doms are being pressed by their bosses to account what the wpc does in their office. I would say to anyone who's interested, to go for it, give it a try. You're not signing up for life, you can quit it whenever you want to. Too many on here say the usual stuff but don't actually apply for it. It is extra work and extra stress and no, not in our office at least, the wpc is not the Dom's pet. We all speak up and are pretty outspoken. We look after the interests of our fellow workers, more so than any cwu rep we've ever had! Of course, the extra money is useful too. Get everything you can out of this company is my advice. Runners and those who are on easy walks have been getting more than £36 a week for sitting at home after finishing early.
Many thanks you make a very good point I will apply if I can find out how???

I don't know if different workplace coaches do different things in different offices, seems like it.

In ours, work place coaches work as line managers. They dress in managers clothes and do manager things on their computers, often taking out little bits of delivery. The ones that get a fixed section to work are because they do exactly what their boss tells them. When the DOM says "jump" they don't say 'how high?' or question the decision they just go do it - even if it means taking out a few loops every day.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

The workplace coach in our place doesn't take their meal breaks, in fact they will attempt to undermine the union reps argument for taking them.
nor do they use a trolley on delivery, so yeah a great example set there and typically giving the management more ammunition for their 40 pieces of silver.

Not really for bugger all .40 pieces of silver for stitching your workmates up. Some do it for nothing ,so who's worse or more thick?

I suppose every office is different. If an office is run by the book hours should be allocated to allow the wpc to "coach" At ours we are on a constant crisis level, so bar taking out the odd new starter and showing them the ropes im too busy booking excess on my own round to do much more. Tbh going on what i actually i do i'd say its pretty much a cushty number, bar the odd occasion when things get rolled out like the new PDAs and after very brief "training" you are expected to show 40 people how to operate them!

I totally agree I'm WPC and I have trained numerous people over the last year. I'm no arse licker either quite the opposite. My own walk is far too busy to have a cushy number so please do not tar us all with the same brush!

I don't think they are a bad idea, there's just too many of them. There's 1 in our office who trains the new starts, and 1 that deals with complaints; he is really good, clued up about the union, our rights ect and will always be in your corner. The problem is we have anpther 3 or 4 that do sod all.
