I WRITE with regards to the post office closures that have been announced.

The impending closure of 12 post offices in the Grantham area makes me wonder about a few things. Firstly, what is the reason behind the decisions. After hardly any research, I have discovered the main reason is that the post office is losing money, and to try to make the money back, they have had to make the difficult decision to close a number of rural, and some urban sub-post offices.

But how did the management decide on which post offices to close? It was easy. The Co-op had threatened to remove all post offices across the country if the post office closed any branches that were part of any Co-op stores, like the new store on Dysart Road. With that threat, they had to just make do with closing every other branch. OK, that's that.

The newly-branded Peoples Post Office has had to make a tough, but money-saving choice. Secondly, the newly-branded Peoples Post Office has just embarked on an expensive campaign to give the people what they want from their local post office with celebrities like John Henshaw, Bill Oddie, Joan Collins, and even Westlife appearing to promote the re-brand of the post office. Is that where the money that the closure of our 12 local post offices will be going to?

I see they advertise RM new broadband service
So now they appear to want people to pay for things such as car tax etc online
Then even less people will use the post office
Then they'll be able to close more down
Brilliant bit of propaganda though
