You did refer to colleagues as being lazy or shirkers, I found that unfair as I believe most try very hard and still have problems in completing within duty time. People do moan on this site, but is that not one of it's functions ?
More aimed at the OP than people who cut off, who seemed shocked to find she couldn't just leave mail behind, still finish early and not be questioned.

For those worried about cutting off they shouldn't. There are rules in place which means they only have to work their hours and no more. It doesn't matter what bull management spew about "oh well x or why can finish on time why can't you?" They are protected by these rules. If anyone wants to come in bang on time, use all the equipment correctly, do everything by the book and cut off they can do so. Without the need to blame runners or anyone else. Runners bend the rules and take their chances. Ultimately these runners will have no one else to blame but themselves if they end up in trouble because of it! That is their choice!

Cutting off, working over or being a runner is down to individual choice!

As for the function of this forum being based on moaning! :left: I like to think of it more as a hub of information and an exchange of ideas where management rules can be confirmed so people cannot be used and abused by management!

The constant colleague bashing is definitely not its greatest strength!

And the people that do the job correctly
They say "you better be out to your time"
if you can't complete your duty if you leave mail or packets.
Baffles me
Why worry about what other people are doing?

You want to do the job "correctly" so do it correctly. Get on with it and cut off when you can't complete. That's you're business! These so called runners that you are moaning about may have good reason for trying to get done, family commitments, etc. That's their business and nothing to do with you!

Far too many people in RM worrying about what everybody else is doing. :arrrghhh

As for being expected to be out to your time if you leave mail in the office. Of course they will expect this otherwise why would you leave stuff behind????
Wrong! People finishing before their contracted hours reflects on the entire office and is a further invitation for management to rip further hours out of the unit which impacts on everyone! The sooner some of the thick twats that work for this company get that through their heads the better!

Brilliant, the argument descends into name calling. Really makes visitors to this site think we are adults debating on a point of principle and willing to accept that others have different views.

We were once called by an opposing site "Knuckle-dragging Idiots", thanks for reinforcing that impression. :mad :mad :arrrghhh :arrrghhh :arrrghhh

We've got a pair of posties on a huge P&L that go over up to an hour every day (and so does everyone else who goes on it), now getting challenged by management because a runner....and he does run between delivery points, recently did the whole walk before time on his own. This is a guy who doesn't scan Chinese packet barcodes, doorsteps stuff, climbs over walls, walks across lawns, doesn't take a break (a legal requirement, by the way), doesn't use a LWT, drives like an idiot, fastens his seatbelt across the driver's seat and into the passenger side locking device to stop the annoying beeping noise while he's driving unrestrained, drives in an agressive manner at excessive speeds while tailgating....the list goes on.

The management hold him up as a paragon to all of the rest of us useless s****s in the office, basically a stick to attempt to beat others into submission. In reality they simply turn a blind eye to his methods and will surely feign ignorance (although they don't really need to pretend) when trouble comes his way.

I really don't understand how anybody can defend this way of working.

So,One day last week I put my name down on the o/t sheet for extended delivery (plus absorption) manager questioned me over it.In the office with union rep and Dom,Lino was gonna come out with me to test,I said fine i'll tie up then have my m/r and then we will go.few mins later he comes over said,ok leave the absorb and go out on your own.I booked 20 mins in the end which is about what I would have booked with the absorb if it wasn't for all the fannying about in the office etc :arrrghhh
ps Some peeps reckoned he realised he wouldn't get finished till 3 if he came with me ha ha

So you're saying 1 postie did the full 2 rounds in the time it normally takes 2 minus an hour's overtime each? If that's the case I don't care if he is a runner the 2 postie's must normally be working very very slowly. Using a lwt and not cutting some corners shouldn't add that amount of extra time on. 1 person faster than 2, really? I think the PDA stuff will be used to look at stuff like that before people finishing half and hour early

You're wrong. What I wrote is exactly what happened. This bloke is a proper runner. He actually RUNS....not walking fast or jogging, but RUNS between delivery points. If you read my post again you will see that I mention that no other pairings in the office....any combinations of regulars, day off cover, leave reserves can achieve completion in time. The regulars are not working slowly as you insinuate, but properly. Again I invite you to read the list of potentially sackable working practices that he employs to get around at such speeds. I've actually done this delivery (the chances are that you haven't), and I can hardly believe that it was achieved myself, and I really don't think that you're in any position to make such sweeping accusations against an entire office.

If 2 people cant get a round done without claiming an hours overtime each, roughly 14 hours delivery after taking off indoor time worked between them so 7 hours on each delivery but a single person can do both in the hours provided (about 6 minus the hour ot?) Ill stick with my original thoughts and dont care what you say. Something is wrong unless the runner in question is some sort of super human postie. If i was moya id get rid of everyone (myself included) who cant get the job done that quickly. She could cut half the deliveries in the country
