I can't get my head round that National Agreements being " just guidelines" to be adapted to local conditions as they are policy documents to be used at every office and should meet the operational demands encountered at your office without having to recruit a local agreement.
neither can I ,but that is the what our office rep is saying he has been told by the divisional rep. Previous dealings with the divisional rep lead me not to doubt this report.
IN a nutshell, the agreement on seniority no longer applies ,walks are split into PT; ft ;and possibly 25 hr pt,for repicks . So a 3 month in PT'er picks a duty and a14 year in ft'er ends up as reserve, they tell me this is seniority . {terms and spirit of the agreement}
No alternative attendance patterns will work in this office apparently. Its a bog standard office of medium size ,probably the most common sized office in the UK and yet all those promises of meeting employees aspirations and achieving a better work/life balance are unattainable.
Thanks for your reply it does help to clarify the issues and stiffen my resolve . Trouble is it also makes me wonder even more , just what on earth is going on.
