Beggars belief that they’ve invested all that money to get you trained up..
Think they’d rather use agency drivers.

If I was you I would email the Driver Career Path team and let them know....

I have been emailing managers at the RDC I wish to start, no success. I have had a reply from someone at the career path saying the assessments will start this month and she will chase up the RDC.

I'll pm you her email address.

I heard from the career path that assessments are now starting.

I passed my C+E in October and have been given a start date at the beginning of March.
I verbally got a position in my desired VOC but had to apply through Success factors as a formality.

Anyone waiting,search Success factors with the area you want and see if anything turns up,failing that speak to the local VOC for any vacancies available.

I’m the same. Class 1 licence, digi card, and CPC and they continue to over look me.
There are loads of people with the skills to do the job - but they would rather use agency staff.
Cannot for the love of god, understand “why” they invest all that time, money and effort to get us trained up to class 1 and then not use us....
Can’t wait for the 2 years to go by - then it’s goodbye Royal Mail.... Thanks for the licence.

I am afraid this is the case. The network review will be commencing once the result of the ballot is known as it states in the four pillars agreement if it is agreed. Nothing will happen before then just in case there is not enough jobs to go round the existing drivers at the VOC. This makes common sense. When the review is completed and there are vacancies I am sure there will a recruitment drive to obtain more drivers. The vacancies will then be advertised in the usual manner for you to apply. Hope this helps but that is the way it is as far as I know.

This is the response I had from Royal Mail....

Apologies for the delay in responding. The team have waited for my return from annual leave to look into the case you have raised below.
On checking with the recruitment team and the local operational team, I am advised that the roles required for “x x x “ Mail Centre are MGV drivers.
The original request was raised at the end of September 2016, but was not signed off or approved until late 2017. This was due to complications and agreements about duty sets and waiting for the CWU agreement to be made.

As per the resourcing agreement, the roles were advertised internally for the agreed period of 2 weeks, before being made available to external candidates.
Agency workers who have been under assignment with an employer for 12 weeks or more are entitled to the same opportunities as permanent members of staff and as such, the agency drivers were allowed to apply.
All applications were sifted using the standard sifting criteria and all were required to attend an interview. Using the agreed selection criteria, the most suited candidates were selected for the roles.

I can confirm that the open resourcing approach was used and all appropriate steps followed.

can i ask who did send your letter to, as the worring thing is the reply stated agancy would get a bite of the vacancy, possiable before RM staff depending on certain factors.

I think the Driver Career Path will open for this year once the network review is up and running. The scheduled date for this 18/6/18 so I would anticipate a date soon after that. It is usually open for 4 weeks so there is plenty of time to apply.

It's way past the 2017 driver career path.
Thought this was in the CWU agreement.

Been trying to get on the DCP since it started with no luck so decided to pay for my own training, I past in February, finally got give a job full time on Wednesday 27th June, and just been informed I'll getting my training on 16 July for 5 days then start the following week.

Who needs DCP aways, I've jump above so many that did get on DCP.
DCP does not guarantee a job.
If you really want to drive lgv for rm, do the training your self, you just might land your self a job like I did.

And if not you have allways got something to fall back on. It's a win win.
