Why do they make such a huge point of establishing who’s to blame? Do you get no sick pay if it was your own fault?cpsteve wrote:If you trip its your fault whatever you are wearing.

Only Rm stuff I wear is the polo shirt. Coats are useless, shorts are rubbish and the trainers are worst of all (do have note from doc for the trainers). I’ve never been pulled up about it in 3 years.
Prob worth noting that I work in a really small rural office, might be different in the bigger places. Also I’m leaving in a few weeks anyway so not bothered what the Dim says anymore.

Quick legal querry. Is the issued cheap-as-chips clothing still classed as 'uniform' and not PPE?

As far as I know it's classed as uniform,You only get PPE if you are working in a hazardous area,IE folk who operate machinery will be issued steel toecap boot's,I know for definite that our shoes or trainers are only classed as uniform,as I asked about this from Occy health when I couldn't wear the issue shoes.Altrider wrote:Quick legal querry. A pair of medieval armoured trousers might be the order of the day then.Nicola12345 wrote:Dogbite to the butt.awesomepenguin wrote:What kind of accident could you possibly have that a pair of non royal mail trousers would cause as appose to wearing Royal Mail trousers???![]()

Rubbish. I wore my own trousers for years. Blue crag hoppers. Nobody said a word. And I did have a big trip/fall. Nothing to do with clothing whatsoever. Just an un illuminated trip hazard. Nothing said.LouBarlow wrote:If you have an accident when wearing non-regulation equipment they will throw the book at you. Don't give them any excuse.

Can't be the full ticket. My mate wears his shorts 365, mad as a box of frogs and supports West Ham; I rest my case your honour. Good bloke though.Bahia Feliz wrote:We've got a bloke who only wears his hi viz in the summer,no shirt lol.Mind you he does wear shorts all year round
