Posties in Hamburg to deliver 300,000 leaflets in bid to find missing Scot Liam Colgan

The 29-year-old from Inverness has been missing for four weeks after disappearing during his brother's stag weekend.

Posties in Hamburg are set to deliver 300,000 leaflets in the search for missing Scot Liam Colgan.

The 29-year-old from Inverness, who is a postman himself, disappeared in the German city during his brother’s stag weekend almost four weeks ago.


The last confirmed sighting of the Dundee United fan was when he was captured on CCTV near the harbour area of the Elbe river.

The German postal service agreed to deliver the leaflets across Hamburg after Liam’s family paid for the printing costs. Local businesses donated the paper.


Deutsche Post spokesman Martin Grundler said: “The disappearance of a human is a dramatic situation in which one hopes to get help.”

Liam’s brother Eamonn, 33, a police officer from Broughty Ferry, near Dundee, was due to marry his fiancée Susan this month. The wedding has been postponed until Liam, who was set to be his best man, is found.

This weekend, a number of pubs in Inverness, Nairn and Forres, Moray, will help to raise funds to continue the search. Anyone buying a drink in the bars can also order “one for Liam”, with the cash going towards the campaign.
