The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Because it looks democratic and nothing else but if we get the full agreement and most read it who knows what will happen in the vote!clashcityrocker wrote:If we can't get anything better why are we bothering to have a vote at all?stephen500 wrote:It's a yes from me. it wont be voted through by mail center staff because there are way less mail centers than delivery offices and i work in processing unit and we are getting the same vibes as delivery that its an ok deal but nothing in that makes you want to jump up and jump for joy i do think if they went back to the table though and got an above inflation pay rise then voted again on it then it would go throughmattjo1@talktalk.net wrote:It will be voted through by the Mail Centre staff

To my mind everyone should be ignoring the pay rise element of the agreement. We can look to recover that money at a later date. What needs to be amended is some of the crazy ideas such as getting rid of the sorting frames in DOs. They are a valuable resource for numerous reasons and removing them from the equation will not save any time - in fact the reverse. We need to look to paying staff for all the work they do without any quibble or arguments. If the work is there to be done then PT need to be made up to FT contracts. We should not be looking to moving to delivering in the dark in the evening as a delivery concept. Many reasons exist against this concept not least that the public don't want to open their door to unknown persons in the dark. Every postie knows the 'golden hour' or best time to deliver is between 7am and 10am. Lastly but not least the RM needs to stop being so negative about the letter part of our business. The post is a valuable advertising resource for businesses to promote themselves and sell their produce. Anyone high up in RM who doesn't believe this isn't the case needs to leave and others who are capable of building our future need to be employed. We also need to stop running down our infrastructure. This past Christmas period highlighted the fact that with increased internet shopping in the UK we barely managed to get the job done and masses of Xmas cards were left to be delivered after Christmas. And this was nothing to do with the weather!! This situation needs to be remedied in time for December 2018. Sadly 'the high street' is out of date now and large shop chains are starting to go into receivership. This will mean more business should come our way. We will need to reverse past decisions - increase numbers of walks, maybe take on more or larger premises. We likely need to stop closing DOs as well. Privatisation has failed as a concept as regards water, gas , electricity, railways etc in this country. We need to make sure that RM is and stays a successful business. Outside interests in the UK say we are doing well. We need to let those above in RM know that we aren't finished and the downsizing needs to stop.
The views I express here are mine alone and do not represent the views of Royal Mail Group.

Agree with most of this.CWU leadership are betwixt and between on most of it though. They are allowing RM to play guinea pig on the methods even though they can't see how it will work themselves.Of all the top table Mark Baulch seems the most vacant .He also seems to think bullying and pressurised workloads is being by administered by 1 or 2 nasty managers.Celgar wrote:To my mind everyone should be ignoring the pay rise element of the agreement. Yes more than a few phycopaths have ended up as RM managers - the rest though are usually halfwits with a sector manager/director and budget driving them to deny overtime or resource offices properly resulting in low level bullying as they crumble under the pressure.
The 39 hour week was introduced alongside revisions that require substantial overtime for 60% of the year followed by asking the rep to "learn" that traffic is this, model is that, therefore stand next to DOM and tell members they are slow/don't need to cut off.If Mr Baulch can't see the existing agreements that cover this off are a bag of shite then roll on October.

So we reject the deal and then what?big ginger wrote:You're dead right Princess. The only thing certain is the pay deal part. No half educated person in their right mind would vote for something they know nothing about. There is far too many uncertainties about this deal. The 1 hour reduction in October is subject to trials. On pensions this new scheme "subject to government approval" will see us much worse off in retirement.princess wrote:Arnold and slinder , can you tell me if your times are changing,or if you have kids to pick up from school, back pay is ours anyway, dangle the ££££££s and the sheep will follow. pensions nothing concrete, pay with [ subject to whatever they want ] im all for non strikes ive been at the gate for all of them and got screwed everytime. NOT THIS TIME sorry!!!!!!

get something concrete.its the every day problems,bullying/harassment from managers has to stop.part time workers given opportunity to have full time if they are constantly doing it,workloads fairer, rounds more equal, new builds are just incorporated into walks, need more rounds, clock in and out if needed that would stop fighting to finish on your time.there are now more knock ons than ever before and getting busier, more pda work its never ending and were getting a shorter week ,we need more time not less,or change workloads.no wonder newbys don't stick it ,they are promised set hours and never get them.these are just few issues but were tackling none of them .its not all about £££££££.

It is "subject to delivery of trials"daveyeff wrote:the 1 hour reduction is not subject to trials.big ginger wrote:You're dead right Princess. The only thing certain is the pay deal part. exactly. which means the hour reduction is triggered by just taking part in the trials with no agreement. so even if the trial falls flat on its arse, we still get the hour because we took part in the trial.
