Start date discussion - HR contact

Post by Rebsmidd »

Hello all.
I have just been offered a delivery/driving role. They gave me the conditional offer a few weeks ago, and after the security checks were carried out, gave me my official offer on Wednesday last week. However, I have a notice period of 4 weeks, which was discussed at interview and many times through the process. They have given me a start date around 2 weeks away. I assume they thought I handed in the notice at the first conditional offer.. but I was awaiting the official offer to hand this in, as I cannot hand it in on a conditional offer. So I have replied to the e-mails saying that I can't make this and it needs to be changed etc. but I have received further things about this date I can't make (automated e-mails), and the job profile has been changed to "start date agreed". I have replied to the myapplication email again, marking it as urgent in the hopes it gets picked up quickly.

Long story short: My question is, is there a number I could call to get this sorted quicker?

What happened and how did it happen and why did you have to message charliecat, what was the reason he couldn't post on the forum.
The forum is here to help others, helping people out over private messages does not help others who may have the same problem later on.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

What postman said, it would be helpful to let other people know how to handle this sort of situation in the future.

Hello all,

Sorry that I did not get back to these message. I only just noticed them now.
It wasn't sorted through the private chat, that was to do with numbers to call, but it was ones I had already found and didn't get anywhere for me. It just happened to be sorted not long after. I got an email back from royal mail apologising as they had just missed my e-mails. That is all. I was panicking a bit, but it's all sorted and I start in just over a week :Very Happy
