as for the culture the cwu and r/m will have an independent body involved in looking at every office as part of this agreement at these dims that think they are above the agreementk979aaa wrote:Terry was saying today we the CWU need to change the CULTURE of this business sorry non of this will be done from the CWU or the reps or the members only the change in the bonus culture from the top down in management will stop that happening sorry to say it is not looking good!tommyrep wrote:Regardless of how the union leaders choose to convince area reps of how good a deal they have negotiated, they have failed again. In my experience of CWU negotiating skills over the years, they have failed yet again. A deal that is sooooo much stacked in favour of RM, that will allow them to continue as usual to bully, harass and intimidate staff in delivery.
The CWU will fail to protect members on any of the supposed good bits, so it will just mean business as usual with managers picking up their bonuses on easy street. No fight or will in enforcing the so called benefits they claim to have won !

LOL `independent`.
Who pays for it?
Is it a 50/50 split between the CWU and Royal Mail or is it just Royal Mail who picks up the bill?
Because if it's the latter. it's no better than the so called `independent` twats who do appeals or Bullying and Harassment cases now.

The DDA/Equality Act demands action,NOT words......adjustments NOT Occupational Health referrals.Case No:2505901/09
Royal Mail is an Equal Opportunities Employer..It discriminates against everybody.

Would I be correct in thinking that the last deal that we voted on was the one that ushered in the "business transformation"? If so that deal sold the membership down the river and I see nothing in this one that reverses the damage already done.

A NO vote would let the Union know there are still massive omitions that need addressing and have been badly over looked for years now. Not every aspect of the 4 pillars have been addressed. RM management have now become accustomed to treating delivery staff very poorly, and bullying as they please - especially at smaller units with little or no representation. There’s nothing in the deal to protect any down trodden staff. The hours deduction ? to be trialled with the same workload done in the lesser given time. On paper the deal should mean better T&Cs, but at a local level the reality will only mean more confusion, with wording loopholes open to further abuse by “ INTERPRETATION”, by twisted management.worktotime wrote:so what do you think the cwu could get more by a no vote ? I was at a briefing yesterday and looking at what r/m wanted with no input from the cwu was unreal , but the top table got us a sww 2 hours guaranteed and another 2 hours within 2022 or before if they can and these aren't on r/m terms , a decent pay increase for full time and better for part time, which will cost r/m £490 m over the 3 years , and the cwu will be involved in any trials etc , no job losses and with data capture may create more jobs , also this cant be used to conduct anybody either , r/m wanted to scan every min of indoor work , but the cwu stopped that to just scan in and out , cant see a problem with that as this will stopped all the runners going home early and get people to do the job rightand its about time . and the pension has been agreed in parliament without any no votes but the cwu / rm are pushing to get this done as soon as they can . just look at other companys and see what you think.
The time reduction in truth will be a fallacy. The wage increases proposed %s are not truly accurate or guaranteed.
The main problem with delivery is low morale due to constant intimidation on a daily basis and there nothing in the deal that even remotely addresses it. The amount of B&H cases - even allowing for those NOT prossesed - will go through the roof. It would be interesting to compare the figures to other companies since privatisation, RM have thrived on intimidating it’s staff relentlessly and to their eternal shame the CWU have ignored it or turned a blind eye. It’s shameful!

And as they keep the vans even longer you need the RAC even more, I had to wait 3 hours the other day after they said they will be there within 2 hours.crabstoes wrote:working in a rural office , I certainly don't want a 4.30 finish. we are already treated like an unwanted and neglected workforce. both by RM and CWU, yesterday I waited over 3 and a half hours for an RAC callout , we are all being sold out with this deal ,the job will look even worse by the end of the year

Just remember that 90% of staff DO NOT do the job properly, they cut corners, come in early, don't take breaks etc. etc. the list is endless. It's ok taking the piss out of the CWU but if everyone stuck to the rules then there would be massive investment, walks would be smaller, more staff, manageable workloads. Overtime is killing the job, stop doing it. When you took the job you knew the hours and wages you would get so why live on overtime??? All RM are doing is exploiting the workforce for larger gains and I'm afraid staff are falling for it. If an entire office stopped overtime, cut off then the whole working environment would change completely. So the CWU are fighting two battles, one against RM and one against its own members to get them to the job properly.
So before most of you shout about a NO vote, look at your colleagues and are they doing the job properly???? are they f**k!

I agree with you 100% with what you say about TOO many of our colleagues !Phantom wrote:Just remember that 90% of staff DO NOT do the job properly, they cut corners, come in early, don't take breaks etc. etc. the list is endless. My main point is where is the support from the union on the others who DO do the job properly, start on time etc. Where is the union protection for them ? They are constantly intimidated, told “ everyone else completes on time “, where is the backing for them ? The behaviour dished out to them is constant and the CWU leadership do not want to know.
The job is more than wages, pensions etc. To deal with daily intimidation in my opinion is more important to people who only want to go to their place of work without the added hassle of relentless bullying. It causes members stress and it is unacceptable, why was it NOT included in the 4 pillar strategy. Most people on this forum comment regularly about B&H, yet it rampant and still continues. I thought with the departure of Bob Gibson there may have been a change in CWU attitude but it would seem the new incumbent is as uninterested as he was.!

I believe the main duty of a trade union is to educate.Phantom wrote:Just remember that 90% of staff DO NOT do the job properly, they cut corners, come in early, don't take breaks etc. etc. the list is endless.
If the members are not doing the job properly, then the CWU has failed in its primary objective.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

I wont be finishing at 16.30, I'll leave, yes that maybe what management want, to get rid of a full timer with 15 years in the pension, but looking at the standard of the latest recruits, it should take them until about 9pm to finish.tmac wrote:How do the rural staff feel about finishing at 1630 .

Where's your evidence for that?if everyone stuck to the rules then there would be massive investment, walks would be smaller, more staff, manageable workloads.
We are already considered inefficient by the regulator.
How would it look if they put in more "massive investment" to do the same amount of work? How would we pay for this "massive investment, more staff and manageable workloads?"
There's a lot of naivete as far as what Royal Mail would actually do if everyone started "doing the job properly" and resultant labour costs suddenly increased dramatically. I know from experience what they wouldn't do and that's shrug their shoulders and get the cheque book out.
If we all stuck to the rules we would probably already be on Amazon style terms and conditions, it's the only way the business could keep the cost per item down.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Genuine questions for people getting excited by the prospect of data capture meaning the end of people starting early and flying round. Why would royal mail use the data to achieve that? What do they gain apart from a bigger overtime bill and probably more cut offs and rounds left in that no one will do on overtime at 4pm. Call me cynical where royal mail are concerned but convince me they won't pick and choose when the data is looked at and used. I'm guessing the first data to be scrutinized will be people who cut off or who's rounds cost them 5 to 10 hours overtime a week, and it won't be with an eye on making the rounds smaller it will be to say the people on them are too slow.
