New post office at Burlish Stores opened in Stourport by Wyre Forest District Council chairman

A RIBBON cutting has officially marked the opening of a new post office in Stourport.

Chairman of Wyre Forest District Council cllr David Little visited the branch inside Burlish Stores, on Calder Road, on Saturday, February 24, to perform the ribbon cutting.

Operator Sarabjit Channa, who is running the branch with his wife Gurvinder, said: “We are delighted to welcome the Post Office into the store.

“It’s a great addition to our business and I am looking forward to welcoming new people into the store.

“Customers are very excited about their new Post Office and they are very happy about the opening hours.”

The branch, which opened its doors to customers on Thursday, February 22, will be open seven days a week for a total of 97 hours and is part of the Post Office’s ‘modernisation and investment’ programme across its network.

Services that will be offered to customers include posting letters and parcels and collecting and returning online shopping items, cash withdrawals and bank balance enquiries.

Karen Coles, Network Operations Manager said: “We want to make it as easy as possible for customers to pay their bills, withdraw cash from their bank accounts, and send and collect their mail at a time and place that suits them best.

“We know how important our services are to customers, and are confident that this brand new Post Office alongside the other branches in the area at Stourport-On-Severn and Birchen, will ensure that people in the Stourport-On-Severn area have easy access to our services.”
