Why 'o' why 'o' why??

Post by Number1 »

What time are people in here allowed to leave their office to start their walks?? On Tuesday the most crazy stupid thing happend in our office (Sale, Manchester) The manager told people that he would let us leave after his team talk. I use the words 'Team talk' losely because if you say anything back to him or question what he has just said he calls an end to the meeting. Anyhow somebody did say somthing to him and this anoyed so he then told us that nobody is to leave the office before 10:15! He kept us all in until 10:45 on moday and said that he is going to keep us in until 10:45 on thursday and friday aswell. When questioned by staff why we could not leave he said its because we are paid till 14:15 and we must work our hours. Well fair enough but when 90% of the office is bagged up and ready to go at about 9:15 its a joke! How are we working our hours sat around for 1 and a half hours??So basically my manager spits his dummy out all the time and changed the rules every 10minutes just to try and build his ego and "get one over" on his staff!! Sad Sad little man. Thing he has lost the plot BIG time!

Will you still be able to complete your delivery in time if he keeps you in till 10.45?
If not may I suggest cutting off :cool

People have said to him I will not be able to complete my delivery to which his reply is "yes you will". Naturally people then say ok then I will just cut off and bring bags back "his reply to this is whatever mail you talk out of this office you are agreeing to deliver, if you bring mail back I will suspend you" One guy nearly came to blows with him about this!

Leaving at 10.45am does not allow for your 15 mins travel time out and 15 mins travel time back, which means you should be leaving the office def no later than 10.15am! :cuppa

I'm guessing you either have no union rep or a very weak one if he's allowed to walk all over you like this.

it seems as though every office has different start and finish times, which is wierd..

ours is
0600-1400 mon -sat.

is there more than one office up and down the country with the same start and finish times.

my 318 says im due to leave my office at 10.35...10 mins travelling time first letter 10.45
3 and a half hours delivery takes me to 14.15 10 mins back duty finishes at 14.25
this is subject to change by the screws on a daily basis due to operational needs which means ther having us out of the office by 9.30 and then wondering why people are finishing early
i will try and get a complete copy of it and post it on here

oh you wont get me im part of the union till the day i die(dont you just love the strawbs)

does this affect your annual leave? our rep thinks that royal mail claw back your leave if you do a 4 day week
