There are some members who don't even know an agreement has been reached.

Thanks for the patronising reply. Yes I understand the meaning of "therefore"

Can i ask why some members dont even know of an agreement? If there is no local rep surely one of the members could stand to be the rep ? As far as I know every part of the country has branch structure and contact details .

It seems it is very easy to criticise . Why not ORGANISE!

Because HQ thinks that therefore necessarily means "it follows that".
Unfortunately it doesn't follow that briefing reps and sending out LtBs is informing members.

Q. Why is that?
A. The old union stalwart excuse that it's a bottom up accountability structure so we throw around a few patronising sound bites and blame the members for their own poor representation.

The rep in ours is far too busy posting elect the Area Rep( the one we never see except when somebody's for the chop and ALWAYS sides with managers anyway

) up to sub divisional rep....didn't even know there was one!

Don't think anybody is looking for bottom up accountability or blaming members for poor representation .

This is the structure of our Union.(presume other Unions are structured similarly) . Interested to know how you would change the structure to endure better comms and representation?

Do you agree CWU nationally are trying to engage reps members better recently ?

Same in our office. Too busy getting more people onto the gravy train instead of dealing with issues in our office.

Along with the excellent social media campaign surely the Union is doing it's very best to keep the members informed .Many may disagree with the "Negotiators Agreement"thats fair enough but surely no-one can say that we as members have not been kept informed!! What is patronising about the CWU is that they are doing exactly what Royal Mail are doing and are not actually LISTENING to its members but instead appear to be following their own agenda. Words like "engagement" sound exactly like RM management to me...

Good to see our rep there and he looked very positive about the deal. I would say the office will vote in favour so that's a 1000 yeses

That's because of where you work, had you been in a delivery office I might suggest you'd have a different opinion.

If you have a blocked toilet you find out where the blockage is and remove it.

I think they're just using the toilet more often, it's an age thing.

To be fair social media has worked to a certain extent in unblocking the toilet during this campaign but it's not an open discussion, in some ways it resembles a corrupt branch in that alternative opinions are very much unwelcome.

Agreed but I have not seen anyone say anything bad about the deal when coming out. It's down to delivery to vote it down as they are the majority 60% + I would say. I am in the little section of logistics so it doesn't matter my opinion and to tell you the truth it doesn't bother me anymore.

But back to the crux , or is it cusp? My" union " trying to sell me three years of pay cuts ,an eviscerated pension scheme ,which, if agreed ,gives RM carte blanche to carry out future smash and grabs.
