Its getting F/T staff on the cheap
This happened to me, they brought me in on a 35 hour contract but I am still expected to do a full time duty with an hour less every day. We are pre-revision at the moment so things could change. While I don't come in early or stay later or anything like that, I'm the only one on this kind of contract and others in the office were surprised but this obviously saves them 5 hours a week which is quite a bit.

I don't come in early unlike lot of people in my office. I only come early if I am doing something afterward ie catching a flight. WSM save a lot of time for me. So it is not too bad.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

We've got a few who turn up early at my office, they are all prepped before 6.15.
One part timer is in about 4.30. Not due in on overtime until 6.15 to 8.40, always goes over the finish time. Has to be the richest person in the office. Total bloody piss take!

The usual faces in my depot that are asked to come in early on overtime to do advance parcel sorting and/or IPS before the rest of us turn up at contracted start time, always seem to miraculously have an awful lot of their delivery frame prepped as we walk past their frames...

Yet their is still plenty of IPS and parcel sorting left to do.

Some of these usual faces have duties that now have crazy indoor 318 expectations, which means they will go over and/or need to cut off most days, is strictly sticking to their contract hours 318.

But this mysterious head-start they get makes the overall duty workload look far more achievable for them, while the day off covers come in at the correct time and know there are heavy odds on them not getting finished within duty hours.

Now it looks as though we are doing ok due to the false impression by these early starters.
So RM are cutting the hours for Part timers in our office ................. thanks a a lot.
These posties coming in early are cutting their own throuts, why come in early when they could come in at their normal start time and cut off or do O/T , absolute madness. :evil/mad
Part timers are just as bad, in my office we have up to 3 or 4 of them that comes in two hours before their time shadowing the managers all morning looking for overtime, when the office phone rings they have killing off stickers in their hands ready to stick on the best rows for overtime then they sprint to the frame.
