There are some good bits in it, but the reps are going to have a diificult job selling this to anyone who has actually read it. A right turn off. The whole process has been a farce from start to finish.
It takes about one and a half to two hours to read the proposal/agreement from start to finish if you read it properly. I'm not stupid or anything but a lot of it needs to be read several times over. It definitely would not win a clear English award. I'm not trying to put anyone off from reading it - in fact everyone who works for RM should. But I expect maybe only 20% of the workforce will read it properly.

Where did this money go ?????
Money from sales of buildings????
Massive profits this year ????

And that's the best deal our union can get ?????

Voting no as well
I thought it was 91 million pound tax credit ??

TheRealDeal wrote:"The progress and well-being of employees as individuals depends on the business being successful, but it is also very important that the touchstones of success truly reflect our human priorities and the contribution our employees make to a public service and society that is so highly valued by the people of the UK."

An excerpt from page 4 of the agreement.

What a load of drivel!

My well-being as an individual at work will not depend on RM being successful!

Nobody needs to be brainwashed into thinking that somehow if the business is not performing as well as Moya or Hedge fund managers would like, your health and well-being will suffer. It's not helpful.

As for the rest, no point in trying to push a left wing message when greedy capitalism is at the helm.

Sorry, rant over.
Would we not be more able to for fill our human priorities and to public service and society without lapsing but of course management bonuses come before this and question it or don't have the time. What in this new agreement will protect you and your contentious stand or your just right too finish on time and that of family friendly don't think so 15:30 maybe the schools will pay the teachers an hour too babysit your kid's till you can pick them up!
I think the schools do run 'after school clubs' for parents who can't get back to school for home time. My sister had to use it recently for her little one. I'm not sure if you have to pay or if it is free.

to buy them off with a five per cent pay rise and reduction in working hours,”

Says it all really......
A investments & pensions firm called Hargreaves Lansdowne said virtually the same thing the other day. They are a very respectable firm so you can take it as fact that RM have got a really good deal from the proposal/agreement.

Who pays for this `independent` body?
Royal Mail managers.....about as popular as a t.urd in a swimming pool!
The DDA/Equality Act demands action,NOT words......adjustments NOT Occupational Health referrals.Case No:2505901/09

Totally agree with all the comments on this so called agreement.
Our local branch hasn’t even sent out the full 40 page document to their local reps to read and digest.
I’m one of the more experienced reps in our area and they are insulting my intelligence if they think holding back that information and then think I’ll be brainwashed when I attend the national briefing to sell this deal to the members.
The ballot commences shortly after the National briefing leaving very little time to absorb and give guidance to the membership.
What sort of Union leaves local reps to be bombarded in the workplace about the agreement only to have the information withheld for over 6 weeks before the National briefing.
Sell out comes to mind :hmmmm

Im quite concerned in the agreement in that it gives local offices more scope to change things their way.

One recent example I can think is when our office tried having a banking of hours agreement. It lead to more problems that I can think of with staff not being paid for the hours worked. Whichever Union Rep "plank" decided that was a good idea obviously needed more "engagement sessions"
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

This is shocking and one of several reasons why I reluctantly left the union. Sadly the union has slowly become an arm of management. We all know that the lump sum back pay will be the motivating factor in many peoples mind. Those over 60 won't care about the pension because they are alright jack. Reduced hours will equal the same workload.
