I work at an RDC where the 39 hour week was in place when I started. They leave 12 minutes early over 5 days or some take the hour at the end of the shift on Friday. I am just stating what happens & in no way am comparing what an RDC can do (No real problem) to what the delivery offices are able to do.Celgar wrote:How did it get resolved? The start times were moved forward by 12 minutes per day which with a 5 day working week is the one hour of SWW. Obviously just because the CWU change our hours the work is still there. The end result was that we ended up running over time at the end. Posties have made an attempt to sort it out but RM are resistant to paying overtime for that work to be completed. Therefore as a general rule the work gets done unpaid.rogersh wrote:When the hours reduced from 40 to 39 were there similar concerns. How did it resolve if i assume it was the same scenario?
When/if the next two hours of SWW are taken the start time will be moved forward an addition two lots of 12 minutes and yet more work will not fit into paid duty time.
One it is your workplace get involved with the CWU and YOUR REP if you don't feel confident in this approach you could all write letters or approach him/her on mass you are the union without your efforts in the workplace what would RM be without your input in the way you work what would RM be an unhappy worker is less productive or will ultimately leave putting a greater burden upon them to train someone else!rogersh wrote:I work at an RDC where the 39 hour week was in place when I started. EDIT;
By coincidence just read on other post thread
"Surely its down to local negotiation. If we are to benefit from the hour reduction I would favour either a half hour off the start time Monday and Tuesday or 15 minutes off the start time Wednesday to Saturday."
