Unit Representative Briefings – Pay and Four Pillars Agreement

Further to LTB 59/18, listed below are the dates and venues for the upcoming Unit Representative Briefings. All Briefings will commence at 11:00 and conclude by 15:00.

Royal Mail has confirmed that release to attend these Briefings will be paid. It would therefore be appreciated if Branches/Representatives could engage in immediate dialogue with local Managers regarding release arrangements and thereby ensure that we have maximum attendance at each of the scheduled meetings.

Branches will be advised once venues have been confirmed for those Briefings currently without a venue.

You can tell from this that the ballot to accept/reject will not take place until until after March 7th.

If it was such a good deal why would these meetings be necessary - there's a certain whiff around the farmyard.

They always do them. A load of old sycophantic people turn up muttering on about solidarity and other such s**t , tea, bick bicks and then a storming brainwashing load of claptrap off the top table and hey presto they are converted to the cause(again). They then go back to their units tell us all what a marvellous deal it all is, and then mention the big one...back pay and extra money, said sheep all vote in droves for said s**t deal and go off and buy a new telly , few months later sheep moan to rep about more lapsing, bullying and other such lovely working practises, rep nods, agrees with them to placate them , then goes for a brew and a read of the paper or wank.

I cannot believe the union would agree to such a poor deal. I would like to know if the negotiating team and those at the top table at the CWU were given a financial incentive from Royal Mail to agree to this deal and try and sell it to it's members. I don't believe they could be naive enough to think they have agreed to such a bad deal. What other reason could there be? Or am I missing something?

A glib tongue from snake oil salesmen will undoubtedly seal the deal, it always has in the past and things haven't got better. I can imagine there being a load of assurances as always and yet these are never written into the agreement before the vote.

As a local rep i have been to a few local briefings . Whilst obviously the "top table" are there to convince local reps on the merit of the Negotiators Agreement,they do not get an easy time of it and are quizzed and criticised, if warranted on all issues . This is done on behalf of the members so that they can report back to the members in your workplace.

I will attend and if I disagree with what I hear I will recommend a NO VOTE.

Most reps are in the role to try and help members and to make a difference . Shame there is SO much cynicism on these threads . I don't see many sheep at the Unit reps briefings that I have been to .

To all those berating reps ,put your head above the parapet and try it yourself. Is it any wonder local reps become disillusioned when all you read is snidey cheapshots and stereotyping Reps and indeed Unions in general that wouldn't look out of place in The Sun or Daily Mail !

C'mon let's have a little less cynicism and a wee bit more faith.

I am sure they know want we don't or don't want to hear but they are trying to sell rotten eggs as fresh the first call is the wholesaler the divisional reps next will be the distributors ie area local rep's by the time we get the rotten eggs they would have mutated to a turd in shell which is what we are being sold as a deal!
