Because the agreed tools ( both kinds) said that the hours weren't there for full time staff. We knew the hours were there but how do you argue with spreadsheets telling you the traffic is down and if Bob and Frank sort to standard we have to cut the indoor hours and all the time the area rep is nodding wisely and you bring the divi rep in wearing his Armani suit and he agrees that it's either part-time staff ot even longer than long delivery spans?

I know you guys had different rules from us but it's not as simple as you think, so now we have part-time staff doing full-time hours and you could go to warp factor 10 disagreement and nobody, not the area rep, the divi rep or what the now call area operations manager will budge because they were the f***ers who f****d it up in the first place.
I think it is very simple in a lot of offices. The tools do what they're told and it has been going on for years.Which is why we are where we are.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

The tools do what the inputs tell them and the resource figures and traffic forecasts aren't in the hands of the rep. All we can do is make sure everything is accounted for and then the outputs are the outputs. If those outputs tell you you've too many indoor hours you've 2 choices, lose headcount and have longer deliveries or replace full-time with part-time.

In London they might prefer VRs and 4 day weeks with longer deliveries but that's not the same everywhere.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

You seem to be missing my point and keep going on about tools and all the other stuff and now London.
You are almost sticking up for Royal Mail (I know you're not but...) and ignoring the fact they have ridden roughshod over the whole business for the last few years.

The average rep wouldn't know a resource meeting if it bit them on the arse.

We will agree to not disagree but have different views on how the business have resourced unit man hrs count over the years.
And I don't buy the fact that hundreds of reps up and down the country have been bamboozled with all the figures tools and whatnots you mention.

:Applause Yep been in this position too many times. Local reps hung out to dry.
Royal Mail managers.....about as popular as a t.urd in a swimming pool!
The DDA/Equality Act demands action,NOT words......adjustments NOT Occupational Health referrals.Case No:2505901/09
Royal Mail is an Equal Opportunities Employer..It discriminates against everybody.

I have a Prada suit and a Canali suit.
Is it worth me applying if a vacancy occurs?
