Remember the extension to 15:30 does not mean every moves later or too 15:30 it will be based on the above and the information will be out there in the next couple of weeks.
Obviously you will have to take the hour off the working week in October which for a 5 day week may mean starting 12 mins later per day.

Looks like many other deals done on our behalf.
Looks good until the small print is exposed. The deal needs agreed by members and after the length of time taken negotiating it, it is obvious our leaders will advise acceptance - just like all the others. Remember the way forward agreement etc ? We were lambs led to the slaughter and I am wary ! Has Moya transformed into Santa overnight ?
Still too many loose ends and loopholes for scurrilous managers to stamp their own INTERPRETATION on the printed word.
There will be exploitation on the less strong units with the CWU hierarchy not much interested. Part Timers will still get shafted with no support, bullying will still carry on unchallenged. The hour less weekly will go the same way as the drop from 40 to 39, over the week with “ what’s 5 or 10 minutes over duty time to moan about ! .?”.
Watch this space, the same old RM chat every day complaints will still be posted, like bullying, non payment of OT, early starters, runners, ghost ot. Record breaking % pay deal ? We will see - watch this space!

Don't know about anywhere else but I can foresee that at our place the hour off will be the same script as extra d2ds,extra scanning, collection on delivery, more parcels etc etc, the answer will be "you'll be ok the mail's down"

The 1530 for town walks and 1630 for rural walks are the maximum latest times that RM tell the customer we will be out delivering with the main delivery setup. It does not necessarily mean your delivery time will run up to those times. Although with maybe 2x 12 minutes from the two SWW hours and say 30 minutes from the LAT we could well be finishing at or beyond those maximum times. May be worth considering voting no in the ballot.worktotime wrote:it might sound a bit of a daft question so am I right that r/m want a 15.30 finish nationally ? so would that means that offices ( ours inc ) that do longs and shorts will stop ? as at the moment our start times are Mon 7 - 14.45 , Tues 7.30 - 14.00 , Weds , Thurs , Fri 6.30 - 14.55 , Sat 7 - 14.20 , so would the new start times for a 15.30 finish be 7.42 - 15.30 for a 39hr week , so if this new agreement gets voted it in they would change again in Oct to 7.54 - 15.30 for a 38hr week and so on , I think these are one of the points cwu need to be telling us and not just the 5% pay increase.

Have you noticed the mail is down at the moment as we getting ready for voting. It went quiet when we were about to vote for the strike ballot last year and previously when there was a decision being made about extra absorption. Makes you wonder if it was a coincidenceted_e_bear wrote:Don't know about anywhere else but I can foresee that at our place the hour off will be the same script as extra d2ds,extra scanning, collection on delivery, more parcels etc etc, the answer will be "you'll be ok the mail's down"

Well I agree with you the key issue not addressed B&H pay deal OK SWW ok but lets see how it is implemented pensions not happy about this at all they just kicked the can down the road again not good pipe line LAT's and later finish times it's a mixed bag really till you find out the offices affected with this and we should be told as the have them identified because they have the numbers of offices. But the key issue not addressed is B&H and non payment of overtime but that need's a change in CULTURE and that start's with management bonuses being stopped I know they will not like it but this is the only way to stop all this B&H and non payment of overtime time will tell.tommyrep wrote:Looks like many other deals done on our behalf.

Dingo , something just does not add up with this ! , so RM have moved from a position of them wanting a nationwide last letter time of 5pm ?,
And now have accepted 1023 offices will have no change at all ??....can you explain this massive backtrack by RM ?, or was it they didn`t really want 5pm last letter at all

I wouldn't worry they will get to 17:00 by stealth anyway ,like all the rest of the stuff they impose.

The later finishing time proposal will simply enhance the scope for bullying and harassment by the Gestapo in my unit. We already have a 3pm finish time now and witness heated daily battles by those wishing to finish on time to convince the head honchos that the workload is too heavy.
I work in a fairly isolated town which has poor shopping facilities and hence a lot of people order from the internet and so shops close down....so people have to order more from the internet etc. Coupled with that, we still deliver Amazon parcels at sky-rocketing volumes and, quite frankly, have an absolutely crap service from our MC which dispatches the majority of our mail on our last wagon which is scheduled to leave on its 90 minute journey AFTER every other offices wagons, including those a mere 15 minute drive away.
Many of our shared van duties even now do not put first letter through until 10.30, or later, on busy days and thus have to cut off the first delivery to deliver SDs on the 2nd before 1pm, and at some point return to the 1st delivery, thus putting time into the delivery. This is compounded by the fact that 4 of our shared duties have deliveries that are at least a mile apart due to the geographical layout of our delivery area. This is only going to be more of a problem with a half hour or more delay tacked on. Arguing with the DOM about this is like plaiting fog as his standard response is, "Well, you've got a van!" as though Vauxhall Combos come ready equipped with Star Trek-esque warp speed capabilities.
Winter, and particularly Christmas, will also be interesting as many staff will be reluctant to navigate dog s**t-laden (perhaps a little over-emotional ) streets, school run traffic and bad weather, including snow and ice, as the darkness sets in beyond their finishing times.
Our bullying management will be licking their chops already.

we have been on 15.15 finish for deliveries and 15.45 for rurals for a while now so I guess we will have a bit of a change but not so much - neighboring offices still finish at 2pm - I guess they will feel it more than us
And guess what we had all the stamping of feet and I have to finish people who were going to leave because of it and none did
end of the day this is still a very well paid job for what we do - and out of school clubs exist in this day and age - people can and will adapt once they see the alternatives out there in the real working world
Those are the plain facts from my opinion - yours may be different

That's the point, you'll just have your start time realigned to what time you get your mail. I.e start much later so you're not kicking your heels waiting for mail in the morning.Ozzvaldo wrote:The later finishing time proposal will simply enhance the scope for bullying and harassment by the Gestapo in my unit.
