While not being a defeatist if it was that good a deal would you not be shouting from the roof top of CWU house and not disclosing it before the PEC says about as much but in times like these FAKE news and everything who knows what anymore till I see it with my own eyes and then their is the devil in the detail and then their is picking part's of the agreement that suit them and even then they just abrogate that agreement till we really see a change in CULTURE WE CAN NEVER TRUST THEM AGAIN WITH THEIR BONUS CULTURE!Phantom wrote:Just wait for the DEATAIL lads and lasses. I think that's a bit harsh as the union have put up there strongest team who have put countless hours into this agreement!TrueBlueTerrier wrote:

well I have to say that judging by Terry Pullinger's demeanour in that video (compared to other vids). he didn't seem to be that happy or convincing did he? in other vids he seemed rather pleased might be getting something good. in one of them he seemed as happy as a dog with two c***s. but this one, not sure what to expect now. look on the bright side thought lads and lasses. theres nowt more they can do to us!!

I suspect we already know what is in store for us. Pensions: we will still get one - subject to legislation or not. If there is no forthcoming legislation our pensions will simply require more discussion until a compromise and settlement is reached. In other words it will be de-coupled whilst keeping the remaining things intact. The key thing is that the Union will not back down on Pillar number one. Pay: we will get an increase - backdated or not. Hours: we will work shorter hours - and even more of it will be outdoors delivering mail. Its fair to say the Union will want an agreement whereby hours get taken off every few years if the 'pipeline' gets running up to speed. Funnily enough this is exactly what Royal Mail want except they believe that it can only happen if we finish later. The Union believe that the answer for this is for us to start later and keep the finish times as they are - which is a compromise of sorts. If this is the case I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised that "trials" will happen for one wave of mech and whether we will do away with workstation frames completely.
And I saved the best till last….Health: On the back of shorter working week, bigger outdoor delivery and new delivery models there is no doubt that more posties will become even more frustrated and knackered than ever. Your future pay rise will probably go towards paying for your own shoes (because you've exceeded the Royal Mail allowance), orthotics, hip/knee replacements and Prozac and Lexopro to combat post traumatic stress disorder because you wind up arguing with old style managers that still use guerrilla tactics to try and force you to work past 4pm.

On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

The negativity on here is astounding. What are you expecting? We give them our shopping list and they rubber stamp it?
It's a negotiation, a trade off. They concede on demands and we do likewise or we end up with stalemate. For the love of Mike, wait till you've read the proposed agreement before you dismiss it out of hand.

Any guesses as to how it'll work with any manual (if one wave comes in then there will be an increase in manual. On a bad day you'd possibly get 20+ boxes going to manual if one wave were brought in)postslippete wrote:If this is the case I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised that "trials" will happen for one wave of mech and whether we will do away with workstation frames completely.

Ie modern day work house all be it unionised without teeth is that what we want? We all deserve better than that don't we all let's get our aspirations up because if this deal is not good enough we need the Ideals and thoughts for a better agreement of course we are are now a business now but plenty of business's work with the workers not against them and why is this because the vested interest has gone bonuses for screwing workers and they are pensionable till this and other Spanish practices are removed their always be a conflict of interest if non of this is resolved. I remember last big battle they got 7.3 and all bonus pensionable we got 6.9 and the B&H increased massively so it is not a numbers game more a work life if you can bare it balance!postslippete wrote:I suspect we already know what is in store for us. What's the betting that the turn out on the vote for the agreement will be dismal compared to the original vote for industrial action, there were scores to be settled & now that's been taken away.

In the re-nationalisation game Corbyn is the only team playing. Everyone else (with the exception of the Greens), including the SNP, are wedded to private business ideology that is destroying our service.Celgar wrote:I really don't like to feel so negative about the results of the talks. I realise that it obviously can't go all our way and that there has to be give and take on both sides. But don't you feel that RM has pushed us to breaking point and we cannot really go much further in the downsizing exercise they promote. Outside observers generally say RM as a business is in a fairly good position but RM continue to paint a bad picture while at same time paying out relatively large dividends to shareholders.
There was a article in the Financial Times the other day on privatisation generally and the water companies in particular that is really sobering reading. It can be read on the internet. The water companies have driven up billions of pounds of debt while at same time paying out really large dividends. Ring any bells !!?? I would in theory be in support of the Labour party being voted back in so renationalisation could occur except that the Labour party are utterly incompetent. That's not to say that the Conservatives are much better either of course. Consensus seems to that the privatisation of everything has been bad for the UK. Other countries such as France haven't allowed it to happen and where they have they have applied rules to keep some order. Maybe we might get some reversal of the privatisation regime without Corbyn.

To be honest this has dragged on so long now, obviously the CWU negotiator's haven't had enough free steak dinners yet. So what happens when the members reject the offer?seaside wrote:So it will be next Thursday before we see the Negotiators Agreement. 1st of feb.. Vote on it by end of feb.
or are we going to be rail roaded it voting yes again ol yes I have been a member for 30yrs and are losing patience with the out dated views of the union. BUCK YOUR IDEAS UP CWU WE HAVE BEEN WAITING A YEAR NOW FOR YOU TO GET US A PAYDEAL. I know it was about pension too but at least next time negotiate the pay deal separately.
