My vote is definitely not guaranteed based upon the PEC recommendation - it will be cast based upon the merits (or not) of the deal's content as I see it.
As it should be and if you knew my history on this site you would know that I'm nobody's lap dog but the fact is any rejection of this deal would need to be organised and that takes branch support and not just any branch support but the big players, this is not my first "deal", I've been involved in the union for 20+ years and I know the politics inside out.
I know the basics of the deal.
It's not the deal of the century but bearing in mind where we are, where we were 6 months ago and where the country is it's a decent deal.
There are things the members won't like but there are things that won't be happening that members would have liked even less. Big picture time..
Guy in my office thinks he's getting backdated pay from April 2017, I say to him I don't think we will, which one of us is closer to the mark
Why are some people so obsessed with a few hundred quid of back pay,when potentially tens of thousands of pounds of pension are at stake?
If you've already pissed up your share money and are living hand to mouth then that's a personal budgeting issue that needs addressing by YOU!
Then we have people complaining of being rolled over by the union.Lets not kid ourselves,the CWU are far from perfect,but believe me,without them you wouldn't be any better off than the average minimum wage man on the street.

We’d have nothing if not for the union. Pay, allowance, longer meal relief than most, everything we have is down to the CWU, Royal Mail would give us **** all if we didn’t have a strong union to fight for us. On the backpay I just think people feel as though they are owed something from April last year by a business that’s making money. Not sure it’s to replace anything wazzed up the wall, if it’s flowing through to everything including OT then they want it for OT worked since April last year as well. Most just feel they’re owed it and don’t want them sneaking out of it by even a penny.
