And can anyone name any other industry where workers are subjected to such uncertainty with their hours ?Strider wrote:We had a WTL this morning, where the main Boss tried to explain 'flexibility' to us.
To be honest he was scratching his head as to how it would be implemented.
But the picture i got was.....if the mail was light on a Tuesday, then management could say..Ok lads you'll all be finished by 12.00 today,so you will owe us 2 hours.
Then on the next day if the lad goes sick next to you....you will be told to take 2 hours of his delivery out,to give the hours back........meaning you will be out until 4.00 for no extra pay!!......This is how it appeared to me...Crazy unfair & unworkable!!
Yet we are accused of having 'Spanish Practices' for resisting the loss of any control of our working hours and home life. Disgraceful.

Hang on a minute, so you're saying because you're allowed home 2 hours early one day and work an extra 2 the next, you should get more money? How? It can't be for 'no extra pay' as you've been paid it. If we're going to offer a constructive defence against flexibility, you can forget that one - we'll have the piss taken out of us.Strider wrote:We had a WTL this morning, where the main Boss tried to explain 'flexibility' to us.

Night Tonic: good reply. In MCs we don't get job and finish, a straight 8 hours, but like tonic says you expect to be paid extra for doing your hours? Rush around, use your cars, come in early and finish early and in the end the DIMs have come for those hours. This has been on the cards for years and now it has arrived. In the past You were warned this would happen!

Nice 1 matey, you'll be one of the few who actually gets a proper reward for serving the Queen's mail without limitations!Margate Postman wrote:recently our office has changed from going out on delivery at 0815 to going out at 0900. i used to finish at about 11 but ive stepped up a notch or two and can now be done for between 11 and 1130, so im making more time than ever. my walk takes me about 2 and half hours on average day, heavy day up to 3 hours. im now home at 12, making over 2 hours a day, when before i was only making an hour and a half. job and knock is agreed, and ill take advantage of it. hopefully once all the changes come in ill be retired as i have only a few months left.

The days of making anytime on my duty in the rugby league capital of the world have long since gone! Pegasus ensured that my walk lasts 3.5 hours and the rest.Indeed im desperately fighting a losing battle trying to relinquish extra work that was scandalously implemented into my duty whilst I was off sick! Anyone who can do a walk in between two and two and a half hours must be living the life of riley.
