Narberth, Whitland and Tenby Royal Mail delivery offices set to merge into new site in Narberth

THREE Royal Mail delivery offices serving south Pembrokeshire and east Carmarthenshire are set for closure ahead of a proposed one-site base for services in the area.

Plans to relocate the offices at Narberth, Whitland and Tenby have been announced today (Monday) by the company.

The "operational changes" would see the three offices move to a new site at Unit 18, Rushacre Enterprise Park, Redstone Road, Narberth.

It is not expected that there will be any job losses or impact on deliveries to customers, with the same postmen and women continuing to serve their local communities.


A Royal Mail spokeswoman said that the new Narberth site had been acquired as the existing building in the town's Spring Gardens no longer met requirements, as email communication and online shopping now means that more parcels and fewer letters are delivered.

She added: "The new office will be designed to meet our operational requirements and offer better facilities for our customers and our people.

"During the consultation with our people, postmen and women in Narberth will have the opportunity to be involved in the planning for the move.

"The new site in Narberth will also have space for our delivery operations serving Tenby and Whitland. We have now started to brief our unions and our people in those offices about the proposed move, to give them the opportunity to discuss the implications in detail.

"We expect the new building will be ready to move our Narberth operations in during Summer 2018.

"If the Tenby and Whitland delivery office moves go ahead, they are expected to take place by Spring 2019.

"This represents a significant investment in Royal Mail's operations in the area. This is part of Royal Mail's ongoing transformation of its business to increase the efficiency of its operation, as well as providing delivery offices which are fit for purpose for our people and for our customers."

The new Narberth office - which will have later opening hours and designated customer parking - will have a customer service point for the collection of mail for customers who were not at home, and the possibility of offering additional mail collection points in Tenby and Whitland is currently being explored.

No impact on customers eh!!!! My S Wales geography isn't great but I know Tenby is by the sea and Narberth is inland ffs. Nice trip to fetch your notice lefts then. Or perhaps the managers will make themselves useful and hand deliver them by light weight trolley???. Yet again profit before service
