Got my start date!

Hey everyone,
I got my email offering me a job today.
Going to buy some cargo trousers and comfy walking shoes and stuff.

Any other tips that a new postie could do with?

Yay, well done! I’ve only been in the job six weeks but I love it so far!
Good luck to you!

If you've got the clothing sorted then the best advice is to go out walking for a few hours at a time, every day if possible - and especially in the cold and wet weather. Once you start try to always have a couple of pens with you, Poundland sell packs of 30.

I'll be out with my dog so hours of walking (especially in the current weather) will help me get used to that lol.

The last email I got gave me the time and date of the training day and asked me to reply to confirm my attendance along with asking for my bank details and any holidays.

They said something about a welcome email that I need to read how long does it take to get that email? I replied to the training day email on Friday but haven't heard back, do I need to worry about it?

I struggled to remember my exact dates as well but I just had a rough guess of when and I seem to have got through ok.

Last thing I did was respond and confirm to the training day email and my status still says offer.

I'm hoping it changes in the next few days then I know I'm plain sailing for my new job as a postie, just a long nervous wait for it to change and get my welcome email lol.

Update, i passed all sections of the recruitment process (at last) only took 8 weeks from application to start date in 2 weeks time. Going to go out and get a decent jacket and shoes untill i recieve uniform.

Pro8186,

Glad to hear it's gone through! I thought it was a funny thing wanting exact dates rather than momth/year like most employers

I got my email on 1st December stating they would do the pre employment checks.

Still haven't received anything else confirming start date etc, should I chase it up?

I'd give it a few more weeks to be fair, it took a fair few between my security checks and the next step

Cheers, I will hang on for a while then. it said 14 working days, and others have said theres came back in almost exactly that time, so I was just getting a bit worried.
