Clocking in & out

Post by Beforenineoclockgoodone »

Nobody has mentioned the way Royal Mail are gonna keep tabs on what time we come & go, are we supposed to be getting a new clocking on & off system, because other wise how are the managers gonna Know who has done what & when? This whole thing stinks, I have decided to give myself a pay rise now & come out of the union, there is talk that the subscription is going upto £3 a week, 20 years nearly I have been here & never used them so £144 a year is better in my pocket? :dance

The only people to get caught with this will be drivers because they have to bring there vans back to office, IF things were to be fare there should be the old style clocking on AND OFF for everybody, then the delivery staff may as well go out on the proper transport because they will have to return to office.

There have been rumours on here and other forums that they are bringing in trackers for vans (confirmed) and walking postmen - so that's probably how they will keep tabs on us all.

That is a fair question how are they going to make it work. There was talk today about long and short days, 6 hours one day and 9 another, add on the flexible working and you could be out there for 9 1/2 hours. Bollocks to that. What about a toilet break, I have no where to piss on my walk. Means a 30 min round trip to the office, emmm that takes up my 1/2 flexi time.
In other industries if you get your job done quickly you are rewarded for it, be it a bonus or job and finish. RM must be the only company that will penalise a good worker, by giving him extra work, and reward a shirker(and we have all got them in our office) by giving them none. Well this overworked and under paid postie will not be co-operating with flexi working :lfo :cfo :evil/mad :evil/mad :evil/mad
How they gonna keep a track on SPDO's coming and going, they do not have managers there and I am sure the Sub postmaster is going to take an interest!!!!
It' a case of those seat polishers in Old Street have not got a f***ing clue what goes on at the sharp end

Beforenineoclock, by coming out the union your playing into the hands of management, seen it happen they'll know your not in the union and they'll abuse you knowing you've knowwhere to turn. Most local reps do a fecking good job it's not there fault this agreement is shite. If you want to make change happen stand for rep yourself and you'll see what a thankless task it is representing tools like yourself. As for clocking in and out whats the problem, do the job properly and there is no problem.

They can only get infomation from the hand held scanners when they are used, or are they going to have GPS tracking in them, if so they would need to be turned on all the time, will the batteries have the life in them. Seems to me that that would cost more money than the infomation would be usefull. Then I could be wrong. Perhaps a Parcel Force driver could tell us how it effects them?

I'm with you lads on this. Don't leave the CWU. Never mind Billy Hayes and his mob, stand by your mates in the rank and file, see the likes of Hayes off and never forget "I am my brothers keeper!"
