Police are investigating after a man was recorded delivering a parcel to a family home and apparently walking off with a package.
The West Midlands force confirmed it was looking into an reported burglary at an address in Clayhanger, Walsall.
The stolen package, left by Royal Mail earlier in the day, contained pyjamas intended as a gift for a three-year-old girl.
The child's parents said that, while the present only cost £10 from Amazon, they wanted action taken before the alleged thief struck again.
A spokesman for Amazon said: “We have very high standards for our delivery partners and how they serve customers.
“We are taking this matter seriously and have reached out to the customer to make this right.”
The girl’s mother, who did not want to be named, said: “We’re really shocked. “We can’t believe he didn’t spot the cameras which are in the porch and on the exterior of the house.
“They are quite obvious.
"The pyjamas were cheap but it’s the principle.
"Who else has he done this to?”
The couple’s CCTV links to their mobile phones and has facial recognition, notifying them if anyone they don’t know enters their home.
The 28-year-old woman said: “My partner knew about it within minutes and was able to watch it on his phone.
“Shortly before the Royal Mail had left the Christmas present for my daughter.
“Then the delivery man walked up and, without ringing the doorbel,l opened the porch door and put down the parcel we had ordered.
“He went to shut the door but saw the package on the floor and looked around to see if anyone was watching.
"He picked it up and put it under his arm before walking off with it.
“The postwoman said later that he had been watching her and her partner a few times as they delivered around the estate.
“He was driving a taxi and I have contacted the taxi company who said they would pass his details on to the police.”
A spokeswoman for West Midlands Police said: “Police are investigating reports of a burglary in Clayhanger, Walsall, in which a man was believed to have taken an item from the porch of a home.
“The incident took place at around 1.50pm on 13 December.”
