Deliver to Neighbours.... stopped

The P739 cards actually have a tick box saying "in your Safeplace at:"

Now we get told not to leave anything anywhere then Joe Public pulls us up and says "if you can't leave my parcel somewhere safe why does it have an option to do it on the very card you out through my door?"

YET AGAIN this unprofessional, stupid, pathetic company makes us look like the idiots in the eyes of the customer!! :arrrghhh :arrrghhh

The 'Safeplace' on the 739 (as I understand it) is officially used when the 'Safeplace' is actually printed on the item. This is when the receiver has purchased
through a website on which a 'Safeplace' can be printed on the item to be delivered. Then if the item goes missing from the 'Safeplace' the seller
and postie have some degree of protection. If you the postie put it in an unofficial 'safeplace' such as the dogs kennel or the coal bunker and
it goes missing there's only going to be one person at fault - they generally wear a red top and it's not Santa.

Some of the safe places people nominate make you laugh, 'chuck over gate' on a parcel marked fragile :d'oh! Literally had it on what appeared to be a box of glasses. Also, what if it rains? I'll put in porches, the garage too if they leave a note asking me to do so.

Worth adding the recipient cannot dictate where is an appropriate safe place. The contract is between the sender and Royal Mail.

But if it's written on the parcel then the sender not got a leg to stand on in my opinion. I just take a picture and leave it where it has instructed me too.

But to be pedantic their customer is issuing an instruction to Amazon and then Amazon is instructing their subcontractor. Thats different to a note on the door which anyone passing could do.

The "Safeplace" written on the item is generic. It will apply to any courier delivering to that address.
Only the person delivering can determine if the Safeplace is actually safe. If it isn't then it doesn't get delivered.

The first responsibility of a postie is to secure the mail.
That is our job. That cannot be negated by anyone else because it is our job that is on the line if anything goes wrong.
If any customer wants me to deviate from that then I am only to happy to oblige, if they first put £1 million pounds into my bank account.
That's what it will cost me in lost wages/pension etc between now and retirement.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Completely agree with your comments although I would like to know what office you work in so I can go there and earn that much! :p
