team talk
We had a team talk this morning - a lot of mumbled reading from several A4 sheets. The pension issue reared it's ugly head along with flexi working and annualised hour (?) the meeting left me with the impression that if we vote yes for this deal everything we went on strike to stop is going to be steam rollered through. The talk did have some numbers ( not in my favour, seems like i'm going to lose out big time) which I asked the line manager to photo copy for me, he said ok, but there was nothing waiting for me when I got back to the office. Guess he was to busy
Interestingly not one word about the managers big "bonus" pay out for taking the deal they were offered. If I got a whopper of a pay out I know it'll go straight into a private scheme - at least with them the law says if you're miss sold a product you can sue! Is it legall for RM to just change my pension contract becusae they feel like it? i missed out on POSS and ended up in POPS but the closure of POSS was agreed with the union - I belive both pension schemes have now been merged - but again with CWU approval?
when I started 20 years ago my managers were respected and honest members of the office - now they are just sell outs and yes men and it's going to finish the Royal Mail pretty quick unless they have the balls to stand up for not only themselves but for us!

I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

There was a lot mentioned in a short space of time, i think they were called "enablers" - you know the stuff - it enables the managers to say " go do this, go do that" then get pissed of when it doesn't work and blame you!
eg today there was no one to work in my usual secondry sorting slot because I was covering flats ( as told to) then the boss sent the other guy to prep a walk as we are short staffed ( again) then they noticed mail was backing up and guess whose fault it was for not telling them?
Why do we pay these twits thousands of £'s more than us if they can't do the job?
I also thought that pensions and D2D were to be sorted seperatley, not the idea I left with though.
I'll vote no, don't understand why the CWU think it's a good deal. If it get's in i'm out of the union and I'll use my subs to put in my own penson/ saving scheme!!

4. SECTION 2 – DELIVERING CHANGE AND FLEXIBILITY
5. PHASE 4
To assist development of a fourth Phase of Royal Mail modernisation, consultation and negotiation will now take place in the following working groups. The intention is for these joint working groups to develop national agreements, where appropriate, by no later than the end of April 2008, to be deployed as soon as possible thereafter.
Joint Working Group 2 – New Reward Framework will examine pay simplification possibilities (within the existing pay bill), a new pay and reward package, different pay models, reviewing on what the local element of the ColleagueShare dividend for years 2 and 3 will be based and MTSF. The Group will also consider how to implement monthly pay. It will also review annualised hours or banked hours, flexible working, and possible changes to attendance patterns that could both benefit the business and employees and is in line with the company’s family-friendly policy. The group will decide whether it needs to operate sub groups for any element of this.

Our office was split pretty much 50/50, yesterday some senior manager came to help try and sell it to the workers, good job he did too after the meeting it's now about 90%+ in favour of a no vote. Apparently we've got the branch coming down next week to try and sell it to us so will hopefully be 100% then.

I WANT A 100% "NO" VOTE , but I have to be realistic...everyone is now pushing the "yes" vote...yes!!! sad to say even the union, who are suppose to represent our interests!jafferpants wrote:I cant either but just you watch when the results are announcedthexxxpostman wrote:well the bristol branch of the union has rejected the deal and are advising all its members to vote NO..i cant believe anyone can vote yes to this sham...do turkeys vote for xmas
I am totally disheartened but unless there is a way to move the "middle vote" to understand the REAL issues here, I fear the worst. We need union meetings across this country to discuss cause and effect and ask the questions that we don't seem to have answers for at the moment
IT'S LIKE FALLING OFF A CLIFF...JUST SAY "NOoooooooo"

HOW DO YOU THINK YOUR "OFFICE" WILL VOTE
Our office will vote yes as it was split on the day of the strikes. I think the offer is a disgrace. They have reduced the one off payment and given us it back on an increase in the pay rise .This is around 6% payrise but over two years means its only 3 %. Another point to bring up is the payrise is not back dated till April like it should be. This is when we should of recieved the pay rise at the turn of every tax year. Basicaly I think we have been on strike for no reason what so ever.
Good luck to you all as Ive had enough. There is no insentive working for the Royal Mail anymore. Partime jobs are ok if thats what you want but as a part time worker I have nothing to look forward to and no prospects in this job. Only way is to get another part time job but you cant even do that now as the new start times dont allow you to get finished in time. Best option is to do one.
good luck
