Two Royal Mail delivery vans have been targeted in separate incidents in the city, police have revealed.

Delivery drivers in Hull have been urged to protect their vehicles following a spate of thefts from vans.

Other drivers have also fallen victim to thefts as they have been delivering parcels to addresses in Hull.

Humberside Police are now urging all drivers in the city to be extra mindful when leaving their vehicles to make a delivery.

A statement from the force said: “In the Hull area we have recently had a number of thefts from delivery vans as they make their rounds.

“Sacks of mail have been stolen from Royal Mail delivery vans in two separate incidents and there have been several parcel delivery drivers who have been victim having parcels stolen from their vans as they go to addresses to make their deliveries.

“The offenders often ride up on motorbikes and snatch items from the vans, it happens quickly and gives drivers no time to react.”

How to stay safe
Never leave the engine running.
Remove the keys and lock the doors.
Never leave the back doors open.
Lock the back doors when you leave the vehicle.

Drivers have also been urged to look out for any suspicious characters who hang around their vehicles while they are making deliveries.

They have also urged them to call police on 101 if they see anything the police need to be aware of.

A 15-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the theft of two sacks of post from Royal Mail delivery vans.

The boy was arrested during police investigations after two Royal Mail vans were targeted.

It was reported yesterday that sacks of mail had been stolen from Royal Mail delivery vans in two separate incidents, and victims may have had parcels stolen from their vans as went to addresses to make their deliveries.

Yesterday, a spokesperson for Humberside Police said: "Offenders often ride up on motorbikes and snatch items from the vans, it happens quickly and gives drivers no time to react."

The force have today renewed their reminder to drivers to be aware of further thefts of parcels.

A spokesperson for Humberside Police, said: "A 15-year-old Hull boy was arrested yesterday in connection with our investigations into the theft of two sacks of post from Royal Mail delivery vans.

"We are appealing for anyone that has information that would help our enquiries and to recover the stolen mail, please call us on 101 quoting reference 16/68486/17.

"We are renewing our reminder to drivers to be aware of further thefts of parcels."
