Personally I doubt there's been enough movement or time to put a detailed, comprehensive deal covering all four pillars to the membership. The best case scenario is that there has been enough progress to justify further talks. Whether certain parts of the discussions will be put separately to the members to resolve the pay and rewards issue is a different story, the members can't wait forever for a pay rise that's already well overdue.

well overdue, but will we get the full backdated amount. if I remember correctly. one of our recent deals where we were due months and months of back money. we didn't get it all backdated to the april...only the October or somewhere there abouts, cos a deal was done. my memory escapes me. getting forgetful in me old age.

It was after the strikes of 2007. The so-called flexibility deal.

Is that the one where we had them over a barrel they offered us a deal the union rejected it we went out again and then ended up accepting a lower pay deal than originally offered.

Don't think so. There was a strike back in 1971 where the Posties then were out for 6 weeks IIRC. They went back with a smaller pay rise than was offered at the start.

The 2007 strikes IIRC were working really well and the business was feeling the pressure from the backlog. They agreed to talks and the union suspended strikes, but then in October threatened and indeed went on strike for a few days.

Eventually, they came to a compromise deal with one part being the pay offer wasn't backdated.

Something in my head telling me it was lower, probably wrong like.
