All i am saying is that we better be prepared now for the fight ahead in our own units. Dont wait till the deals in, sort out your plans on how to defend our members if managers start bullying and harrassing us, the guidlines are there for everyone and we all abide by the same rules, if not, then follow the procedures in place.barbario wrote:Most people i've spoken to in my mail centre are going to vote No So its not a done deal for Royal mail by any means I hate these roll over and die types.

No I havent done a union reps course and for your information I to am voting no, but I know my vote will count for nothing because to many people will see the 5.4% and have lost a lot of money. So all I am saying is prepare for the battles ahead,be realistic and set your strategies out on how you are going to deal with things over the coming months.linkinpark wrote:Have you just done a union reps course?chiefclaret wrote:Yes it will get voted in and nobody in there right mind would back against it. The National Officers
The following National Officers distanced themselves from the agreement Martin Collins, Bob Gibson and Terry Pullinger and would not sign it. Dosn't it tell you that if senior National Officers that represent Mail Centres, Distribution and Processing act like this then the messige is clear it's NOT acceptable to the rank and file and our branches should say NO. too much up in the air and yet to be agreed

Re: The National Officers
Bob Gibson I believe is deliveries. The PEC had a democratic vote and it ended up 9 against 3 for a yes vote just like our own vote will turn out mark my words. I will vote NO but i'm afraid to say that people in our office just think of themselves and not the future and will vote yes.Oldham wrote:The following National Officers distanced themselves from the agreement Martin Collins, Bob Gibson and Terry Pullinger and would not sign it. linkinpark wrote:Easy Tiger it was just a question! And ALL votes count yours included and if you think the vote will go against the way you truly think is right then make up your mind to show half a dozen mates of yours how bad this deal is and pick one of them to do the same and talk to and convince six of his mates. If we all do this we will get the NO vote and then get a decent deal.chiefclaret wrote:No I havent done a union reps course and for your information I to am voting no, but I know my vote will count for nothing because to many people will see the 5.4% and have lost a lot of money. Yes I have been doing that since last thursday, but the response I get isnt the one I expected. People see money and go for it mate and when it comes down to an X in a box you know what they will do.
The Tiger.

sorry chief claret but I will be voting no. In our mail centre management are already using the unagreed agreement[if that makes sense] to their own advantage. They have transferred mail from our office to another 50 miles away. We walked out they negotiated with local rep's and we returned to work on the understanding further discussions would take place. It never happened. When we contacted Dave Ward and our div' rep' we were told it's gone-deal with it. Our members feel we have been shafted big style. Not just by R.M but by the union who seem to be solely concerned with the new fully automated mail centres. I hope that neither Billy or Dave send me another letter with the footnote unity is strength. Hypocritical bastards. Don't worry though some of us are going to be offered V.R. I hope I'm one of the lucky ones. I have always supported my union but at this moment in time, I and many of my colleagues fail to see the difference between the management and the union nationally.

example on flexibility: if your manager asks you to work extra 30 min thu,fri but less on a tuesday the answer to that is up to you .you could turn round and say ok il work the extra 30 min thu,fri but i want to finsh 1hr early on sat. if he says no than you dont work the extra mins.this is where your reps and area reps will have to put things in place.as the agreement says things will all have to be negotiated with the cwu .

I see the clowns are out!
DONT MAKE A JOKE OUT OF IT PAL , WE HAVE JUST GIVEN UP 8 DAYS PAY FIGHTING FOR THIS DEAL. ITS NOT A JOKE.
THE AGREEMENT IS COMING IN WHETHER WE LIKE IT OR NOT.
NOW YOU CAN KEEP COMING OUT WITH THE SAME OLD STUFF BUT IT WONT DO US ANY GOOD. ACCEPT WHAT WE'VE GOT AND MAKE IT WORK FOR YOUR OWN OFFICE, DONT JUST DISCARD IT OR YOU WILL BE IN THE MANAGEMENTS POCKETS, JUST WHERE THEY WANT YOU. GET IN AND FIGHT FOR YOUR RIGHTS OR GIVE UP AND JOIN THE CIRCUS. COME IN,THE WATER IS LOVELY AND WARM.
You say and I quote
"fight for your rights"
Have you been a long way away whilst WE HAVE been doing just that??
I suggest you go back there as we don't need enemy's,
with friends like YOU!!!!

You are quite wrong on that point. If you read the full agreement there is a paragraph which says:yorkie wrote:example on flexibility: if your manager asks you to work extra 30 min thu,fri but less on a tuesday the answer to that is up to you .you could turn round and say ok il work the extra 30 min thu,fri but i want to finsh 1hr early on sat. if he says no than you dont work the extra mins.this is where your reps and area reps will have to put things in place.as the agreement says things will all have to be negotiated with the cwu .
It is all about managers, reps and employees working together sensibly with a bit of give and take, applying equally to all. This is not about employees not knowing what job they are on, or when they start and finish from one day to the next. Nor is it about anyone refusing reasonable requests. Account should of course always be taken of individual circumstances.
This is a licence for managers to quote necessity and "give and take" but we all know it is going to be "take and no give".
