Are D2D's optional?

Post by MartinMail »

Just wondering as today was tying up frame, DOM comes over gives me three boxes full of them. Told me to come in at 7am tommorow morning (My start time is 9:25) to sort them out. How much extra do you get paid and is it optional?

TELL HIM TO GET STUFFED.
THEY SHOULD BE READY FOR YOU AT LEAST 1ST THING MON MORNING SO YOU CAN THROW OFF 20 %.
YOU DO NOT COME IN EARLY TO DO IT. DUTY TIME SHOULD BE ALLOWED FOR THE 20%.

tell him you will come in at 7.00am if he pays you 2 hours 30 minutes overtime, otherwise just do 20% a day, people in my office coming in at silly o clock had already put my 3 lots under my frame by the time i got in,if your on the walk for the full week its your responsibility to do your d2ds or you may be done for willful delay.
my walk has 575 drops and i did 139 today so maybe i did 22% :confused

Mentioned this on another thread, but this happened at our office the dom seemed to think that as you get paid separately for d2d you do them in your own time i reminded him of the 20% rule and also stated that my time is just that MINE and if this was the way he wanted them delivering in the future i choose not to do them in my time , he very quickly moved away.
D2D are part of your workload dont let them tell you otherwise as even the posties that take d2d home are giving the company time.

Ive got 600 on my walk and do my 80% Mon Tue Wed - it means Friday which is usually heavy is not really heavy as I have less than 50 or so to do. What I tend to do is take where I am going Mon and Tues, Wed take the rest as its my long day. Tes we now have Longs and shorts. Thank you CWU.

Don't you dare go in early just to do D2D's. 20% a day is the rule and they are built into your duty time.
If the DUM's willing to pay you for coming in early and you don't mind, then fair enough. Otherwise tell him to shove it!

D2D delivery is built into your duty time preparation isn't but do not go in early to prepare them unless your getting paid If it is too busy to do them inform your DUM you cannot complete as usual, it is his responsibility to ensure they are delivered

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Incidentally, aren't you are supposed to deliver each one individually, i.e. not placing some inside others etc., where some may not be noticed and therefore lessen the anticipated advertisers audience!

That's the official line, yes! But the vast majority of posties put them inside eachother whenever possible, making them easier to deliver. And then dispose of by the recipient.

apperently if the door2 doors come in late, then every day its late by you should put down 20% per each day, so saying if you dont get your door2doors till tues, and u do them, then u should put down extra 20%, so u will be paid 120%, say if they come to your frame on a wednesday, thats 3 days so thats 60% extra you put down. Our dUm informed us of this b4 the strikes!

Thanks for the info. Load a bollocks the lot of it. The other day I had these adrressed BSkyB things and gas safety books to every house, took me hours...

How would it work? What would you recommend on how to sort them into your walk? I did D2Ds on my first "training" day, obviously quite easy. However I'd imagine it would be difficult sorting them into your addressed mail?

They were certainly optional for me today. Was FAR too busy to even look at them.

They can certainly haul me into the office at anytime, but the facts is I worked an hour and a quarter past my finish time without taking them and that was the maximum overtime I was willing to work. When it is extremely busy there just isn't enough time to prep them and I'm certainly not going to be doing them in my own time.
