Whose has the longest wait after interview?

Post by johnboone1976 »

So I had my interview for postman on the 23rd of October. I am still waiting 15 days later for an e mail to let me know the outcome. It's getting a bit frustrating now but I'm guessing the Xmas backlog Is causing a hold up so two questions for you guys. One) what's the longest anyone has waited for an e mail after an interview and two) if I am offered the job would I be correct in assuming the chances of me starting before Xmas are very slim?

Here's my timeline. I guess because of Christmas it's taking a bit longer but I'm no expert!

19.8.17 applied online
20.8.17 completed online tests
31.8.17 invited to interview
6.9.17 attended interview
14.9.17 email to say passed interview and submitted 5 year employment history
20.9.17 submitted to pre employment checks and submitted Delane check
21.9.17 step 6 conditional offer and sent off digital photo
9.10.17 step 8 formal offer
26.10.17 received contract
30.10.17 welcome day
31.10.17 start day! Eek!

Hope this helps :chuckle

I got my response 16 days after my interview, hope you hear something soon - the waiting is painful.

I found out exactly 7 days after my interview. I'm now going through the checks. I think the waiting is worse than the interview. Good luck bud, I hope you hear soon.

Yes, I did. A whole month passed by after my interview before I heard I'd been successful.

Yes, the process seemed to take forever. I had actually reached the stage where I assumed I hadn't been successful and put it out of my mind.

It was about another month after that when I had my induction day and started on the following day as, in typical Royal Mail fashion, they booked my induction day slap bang in the middle of my summer holiday that I'd told the DOM about during the interview. A quick phone call got it rescheduled though.

So it was about two months from the interview to start date, during which time Royal Mail actually contacted me to ask for an update on employment history for their records!

Anyway I hope you hear soon that you've been successful...good luck!

Thanks again Crimson, two months after my interview is two days before xmas, lol, so If I do pass, I cant see me starting to new year at least. Well, I wont give up hope till hope is gone. Luckliy I am employed anyway, just really looking to change jobs to become a postie. That was one of the questions at interview actually, do I currently have a job. I wonder if me saying yes is one of the reasons they are taking so long? lol. Oh, and my job is a butcher, so xmas is going to be a very busy time whatever happens!

Maybe the position at the DO you was applying for has been filled internally and there isnt a rush to get you processed.

Update is that i didn't get the position but was put on a waiting list. Applied for a couple of other positions local to me and received an email to complete online tests. Emailed recruitment to ask if i needed to complete and got a reply saying i didn't. Then received an email to complete the 5 year work history.

Am I correct in thinking that if these go ok and then im onto security checks and then conditional job offer? Any guess how long the timescale on these could be?
