Never mind 88 i was there in 71 when we were out for 7 weeks with no pay. Puts the thought of losing the odd days pay in perspective dosent it.

Yeah my old man who was a P.O was out on strike back in 71 for 7 weeks.Then they went back for nothing after being urged to do so by the executive comittee.

I was involved in the Communication Worker many many years ago along with posties from Coventry and there abouts,most were anarcho-syndicalists. The CW was a great wee read and was also quite influential back then. I used to have all the back copies but through time I have lost them with moving etc. I wonder if there is anyone on here who remembers the CW and might possibly still have some copies. If so let me know.

There was also another publication called " I'VE GOT YOUR GIRO". This was produced mostly by people involved in the Class War Federation and was also a good read. Unfortunately those involved tried to run before they could walk and it crumbled under workload.

Maybe now is the time for a new alternative publication. Any ideas anyone?

The CW was a great wee read and was also quite influential back then. There was 'The Postal Workers Bulletin' by Solidarity Federation and the IWW had a few newsletters out around 2000/01. I don't know about the Sol-Fed comrades, but I hear the IWW have a member who was a journalist in southern England. Then there are the libcom comrades. We're all pretty much of a similar outlook so it's always a possibility.

Its definetly worth looking at because although this is a good forum a leaflet/bulletin/pamphlet which,like this doesn't always take itself too seriously while getting the point across is another means of communication.

One thing the CW comrades attempted at the time was to hold a conference for the people involved and supporters of the paper(?) to discuss which way the group was heading. That unfortunately was one of the downfalls of that particular group. So a solid base of like minded individuals is the first priority.

I was involved with CWG in the mid to late 80s. As Johnstone says there was a group in Coventry, but the main groups were in SW London, and Lomo in East London. There were various contacts through out the country, and I remember posting packets full of the publication to Johnstone in Scotland. Communication Worker was produced for 14 issues and had a circulation of between 6,000 to 8,000. As I remember this was the shortest issue with only four pages, but it was produced and in the London offices within two hours of the ballot result being announced.

Unfortunately I don't have back copies.

Anyone got any Post Worker covers from 2003 strike ?? They were good
