managers ask you to do something , GET ON WITH IT

If the opg(s) aren’t being moved, then maybe the reasons are valid, if your assumptions that the reasons are valid then the manager must be ineffective in their role. So maybe that is why they are challenged??

im a newbie and i hear this a few times already, managers doing things as don't want to upset old-timers, who then go to rep to complain.
you would never see this if wasn't a union you would use have a moan and get on with it. managers only doing job ,there is too many things going on like this.
the amount of moaning that goes on in this job is unreal from workers, they hate it if they think someone is getting help (even from newbies) , just stop moaning and get on with the job your doing and stop worrying what the worker next to you is doing.

The very fact is it is unionised and for that we are grateful as for moaning about dictators who some of whom have never worked in their lives telling someone who does the job day in day out for years on end and some Muppet tells you don't complain just comply and when the s**t hit's the fan who will take the blame not the duck and divers and skiver managers it's the guy who told you NO because the blemish would be on his record not the fly by night management we have now!

I very often question a manager's request for me to do something else. The vast majority of them are either inexperienced, unfamiliar with either the job, not aware of who is good or bad at what, or very often merely plain incompetent. It's for the benefit of all involved, including customers and shareholders, that I suggest a proven and effective way of utilising my skills.

If the manager declines my advice I will happily do as instructed. Many of my colleagues are of a similar disposition and do likewise. The same manager is then often very displeased around 10AM when everything falls apart, walks still need chucking in, the sorting still isn't done and there's a small army of OPG's informing them that they will be leaving part of their duty in due to time constraints and workload issues. That's when you'll really see someone spit their dummy
