managers ask you to do something , GET ON WITH IT

IF manager asks you to go help someone then you should go and do it, not for some old timer to say sod off I'm not working with him.
im a newbie and i hear this a few times already, managers doing things as don't want to upset old-timers, who then go to rep to complain.
you would never see this if wasn't a union you would use have a moan and get on with it. managers only doing job ,there is too many things going on like this.
the amount of moaning that goes on in this job is unreal from workers, they hate it if they think someone is getting help (even from newbies) , just stop moaning and get on with the job your doing and stop worrying what the worker next to you is doing.

Always do, and when the mis-manager says "You haven't finished that" I reply "You took me off that to do this"

At the risk of taking this post seriously, nobody should be saying 'I'm not working with someone' unless there's an operational reason for that (eg these two rounds need specialist knowledge') or if there is a personal issue (unlikely with new staff).

As s**t as this thread is thing is if some of the people I worked with gave the same s**t to a manager at some other place they'd be sacked on the spot. And to second that if a manager gave back as good as he got, the person on the other end would be running off to the union to put a grievance in.

ive never worked in place where people talk to managers like they do at royal mail and throw their dummies out when get asked to do something that they aint been doing the same for the past few years...

I agree that we should all focus on what we are doing and on our own work. Everyone's rounds, personal circumstances, health issues, etc are different.

Yes, there are some who moan...but there are people like that in every sector. Some moan for genuine reasons whilst others find it a hobby. I do think that managers should be treated with respect but it is a two way street. If a manager is being unreasonable, unrealistic and unfair than an employee is entitled to be unhappy. I'm personally glad that the union is there. I dread to think what RM would be like now if the union didn't exist. Unfortunately, I think that they are gradually being disarmed...
